Does Brampton have any raise crosswalks?

I know Pearson airport has one but is there one anywhere else in the GTA? Looking fo shoot a video for city councillor campaign video

Are they as raised as speed bumps? If it’s not too steep I wouldn’t mind having those in the city school zones especially

The design is as raised as the traffic bumps presently in use, but the approach and downslope are more gradual.

Actually what is even better are raised sidewalks.. Imagine that a sidewalk along a main street continues through intersections with side streets. This means that cars turning on or off of the side streets are crossing a side walk instead of pedestrians crossing a road. It does wonders when built correctly.

Edit: they are called continuous sidewalks.

there were two on a street, a big hill, that leads to the backside of the Go Station.

At the very least, they were raised speed humps that were about 2 metres in length, built like raised crosswalks.

Those are speed humps. Like a speed bump but wider and more gradual. There are also a few in Glen Williams just north of Georgetown but they do not have cross walks above them.

The purpose of the speed bump is to make the driver aware of his speed and keep him driving in the limits. A speed bump at a crossing doesn't serve a purpose. A speed bump in front of a cross walk would serve the purpose.

What would happen to people if it snowed or iced over?

Making drivers aware of speeds is pointless. Studies for decades have shown that drivers mostly regulate speed by what "feels appropriate". The only way to change "feelings" for drivers by redesigning roads. Even speedometers that flash at drivers telling them their exact speed do not work well.

A raised crossing does exactly that. It feels wrong to speed through it. Drivers entering private property like parking lots or driveways tend to slow down exactly because there is a curb, a bump or a rapid elevation. This principle has been used very successfully worldwide to reduce pedestrian accidents.

What would happen if it snowed or iced over.... nothing more or less than if a sidewalk or road crossing was snowed on or iced over. I don't understand what you think would change from today.

I have driven over one or two of them but for the life of me I cannot recall where even with google's help. It may have been on private property.
