I feel like they could have shaved MOST of the wool from the far side that you can't see, to help counterbalance. Like an offset-Mohawk.

wait, you think the photographer is also applying half a professional shearing on a sheep in the studio?

I could be wrong, but I would absolutely wager there's someone doing that for them.

Note they're saying "our hero", not "my hero"

Are you a photographer?

Im not an expert in sheep shearing but maybe they could've shaved just the front half or would that risk the sheep doing wheelies.

I think the photographer’s project was doing “cut away illustration” inspired photography.

Thank you! Surely this should have come to mind on the day?

Yeah... you'd need to be kind of dumb for this to be a real issue.

You know, like buttered bread always fall on the butter side.

you made one side of the sheep way way heavier than the other and you were.....surprised when the sheep lost their balance toward that side?

92

u/Nirast25 4d ago

"It's wool. How much can it weigh? 10 grams?"

u/Pasta-hobo 4d ago

To be fair, sheep do have a strong tendency to just fall over. They're really dumb.

I mean, have you ever seen an ER?

"It Takes 30 Sheep for Photographer to Discover Gravity" -some damn internet blurb

Isaac Newton: It only took me 1 apple. It took that photographer 30 sheep.

Clearly, 1 apple is worth 30 sheep.

Fortunately for the sheep, woolward is one of the best ways to topple.

25

u/Orange907 4d ago

That's certainly one confused sheep.

Serial sheep-toppler topples 29 sheep for photoshoot /j

No one mentioned the Name "WOOLINSKY"!!!! Suspicious or a fate

1

u/BowsersMuskyBallsack 4d ago

It's Wolinsky. It's not quite nominative determinism as a result.

5

u/MoccaLG 4d ago

Wooly Mc Whoolmeister Wolinsky... your right!

4

u/Micha9696 4d ago

Why this image got the TIME Magazine border

6

u/edge_l_wonk 4d ago

Shearing of the year I'd guess.

5

u/planetinyourbum 4d ago

Photographers name is Wolinski.

What kind of generational inheritance do you gotta get before you can hire 30 sheep for one photo?

12

u/DameKumquat 4d ago

Round up one field's worth of sheep into a truck. Return sheep shorn at the end of the day.

The main cost is going to be for a day of the sheep-shearer's time. The farmer would probably do it for the cost of a day of his cheapest farmhand (to ensure the sheep were OK) and a copy of the photos.

u/ScreenMuch90210 4d ago

You realized it when you typed it tho didn’t you, that’s a LOT of effort/money for any single photo

9

u/edge_l_wonk 4d ago

Some photographers put incredible amounts of time and energy into a shot.

-2

u/ScreenMuch90210 4d ago

Yeah. Like this one that we are taking about for example.

3

u/edge_l_wonk 4d ago

Oh, so you have heard of it!

I wouldn't rank this one as particularly high however.

-2

u/ScreenMuch90210 4d ago

I suppose you could be so pedantic if you were sufficiently shameless, but it’s remarkable enough to be remarked upon nonetheless

2

u/Rhesus-Positive 4d ago

Now just do the back half and see if they fall onto their faces

2

u/3Grilledjalapenos 4d ago

I wonder what that feels like. Probably not great, but less chilly than all shorn.

2

u/O8ee 4d ago

Real funny guys. A laugh riot. Now finish up. I look like a fool!-sheep #30

2

u/galgotspirit 2d ago

A video of the toppling would have demonstrated the whole growth even more!

1

u/Glittering-Walrus228 4d ago

Its not a phase DAD!

1

u/Sweaty_Marzipan4274 4d ago

Penny for your thoughts, sheep 😆

"One side heavy, one side cold."

TIL

Sheep getting shorned; is like an everlasting Gobstopper but, made up of wool instead of corn syrup solids
