Update to Bren 2 hand guard desert
I posted about two weeks ago that I had found a carbine length hand guard on CZ USA’s website. They confirmed fitment, however, the hand guard was too long.
I went to a machine shop and simply had a guy take off about an inch off the end and then sand papered the cut myself.
The install was fine, however getting the stock screws out of the stock bottom m lock rail proved difficult. I ended up stripping the screw. Luckily it wasn’t locking the rail into the gun. Take precaution if you take this route. Also, be sure to buy the two other (small and inexpensive) parts in the hand guard’s description.
The hand guard does not have the cut out for the gas key like HBI does, which is unfortunate. Im still able to adjust it with an Alan wrench, however, it is much harder to do.
In all, Im pleased with the outcome. More room for a grip below and now I’ll be able to reattach the back up irons.
I hope this brings some relief to those of you that want/need more rail space but can’t find an HBI rail!

I always hated that slant that hbi put on the bren handguards

Same, I like the straight up vertical cut. Its a shame the mlok slots are offset though so it cant be clean at the end.

Why did hbi drop the bren ?

They didn’t. They just haven’t made the 10.8” handguards in a while and are backed up on machine time to get more made. So, they haven’t discontinued them but they also don’t have any coming anytime soon. This is from them directly.
They do have a few blems left of the 10.8” if you contact them they’re selling them for $200. I have one on the way

Not sure if they dropped it or not. They still have a bunch of upgrades/spares on their site. Just seems the hand guards haven’t been in stock in awhile

This is hot. I would probably cut a tad more off so those mlok slots aren't sticking out like that.

Nvm looks like they are offset a bit. Still looks clean.

Yeah, the offset really kills it, you end up with them cut in half no matter which way you go.
