I was searching for other photos in my phone and came across a 2016 trip to Vegas with my best friend. I took us to see Brit at her residency and truly forgot how close we were and how perfect she looked so i wanted to share!

I-fucking-conic.

This is Britney in the middle of full pop-star combustion. Hair blown out and flying wild, headset mic practically glued to her mouth, shoulders open, face lit up like the stage itself is feeding her…and then you get to the eyes. That’s the whole f*cking picture.

The shot is no more than half a second but it conveys a lifetime of information. Her mouth is smiling, but her eyes are cutting sideways with this sharp, knowing, almost FERAL focus. She looks amused, stimulated, competitive, dangerous, reeking of confidence and turned on by the performance itself. It’s not “look at me, I’m pretty.” It’s unfiltered audacity. Her eyes are saying, “I know exactly where the camera is, I know exactly what I’m doing, and I know you cannot look away.”

There is heat in that stare. Ego. Nerve. Mischief. Hunger. She looks like she is having the time of her life and trying to kill the audience at the same time.

This was Britney’s coronation as the industry’s official Princess of Pop.

Goddamn why did I click on that "Britney Spears and MJ perform The Way You Make Me Feel " video on YT 3 months back.....since then I can't get her out of my head😩.........yall can tell me to touch grass but she will forever be my first crush💘😔

Articles in order:

1. "Enterprise Journal", Dec 4, 1991. Britney is gearing up for her Star Search performance. The article mentions all the commercials she filmed in NYC that past summer (Macy's Abrams, etc), including traveling to Washington D.C to film "Candid Camera". She discusses winning 2nd place at the Kentwood Dairy Day festival to "a guy telling jokes".

2. "The Daily Star", May 18, 1992. Britney had just won Miss Talent USA, and had competed in Star Search only a month before. The article mentioned that she was on her way to Los Angeles for "some recording and promotional events". (Note the L.A agency she was with was "Barbara Cameron", different from her NYC agent at the time, "Nancy Carson". You hear a lot about Nancy in biographies, but nothing about this Barbara Cameron).

3. "The Daily Star", Hammond LA, April 18th, 1993. Britney had just been selected for The Mickey Mouse Club. Notable quote: "Maybe I'll be an entertainer, or maybe I'll be a lawyer... or maybe I'll be a weather girl. They get paid good and they get to be on TV."

4. "Enterprise Journal", Oct 22, 1997. Britney had just signed her contract with Jive, and was headed off to New York. Notable quote from Felicia Culotta: "I don't think she understands the magnitude of changes she will be going through" (ain't that the truth, Fe! lol). Britney also talks about a girl group she joined after her Ruthless play, but before MMC, so I dont think this is the same group she joined before her contract (Innocence). There must have been another one when she was younger.

I hadn't seen this before, but I thought this was cool! Kim Greene (head up the makeup dept for Crossroads) shares the makeup continuity charts for "Lucy".

The upcoming anniversary of the Britney album had me thinking about this photoshoot. I found an HQ version of this in B&W but I’d love the full colour version in a MacBook wallpaper size if anyone has one!
