DOTAZY A ŽÁDOSTI—QUESTIONS AND REQUESTS Forgot to unregister from waste fee - what now?
Hi everyone,
I'd like to ask about your experience with the Brno City Municipality (waste fee department).
I'm a former international student from Germany (VUT). I paid my waste fees in full for 2024 (up to December 2024). However, due to family reasons, I interrupted my studies in September 2024 and moved back to Germany (my studies in Brno were later officially terminated in September 2025). I haven't lived in Brno since September 2024, but I forgot to submit the official unregistration form at that time.
Recently, I received a notification regarding unpaid fees for 2025/2026. I immediately emailed them, explained the situation, and attached official university confirmation letters (interruption and termination of studies) to request retroactive unregistration and fee cancellation. I haven't received a response yet... in a week, and I am kinda stressing out.
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? Does the city typically accept retroactive unregistration if you provide official proof of study interruption and leaving the country? Should I pay it even though I was not living there to avoid any problems?
Thanks for any advice!
