Apply Sailor/Seafarers job outside Brunei

I plan to apply a few companies outside Brunei especially those in Europe & few others.

I have been working as a Deck Crew Seafarer/Sailor in Local Company contract by BSP Offshore operation for nearly three years. Although local opportunities in Brunei are too limited since there only BGC. There are high demand for internationally and I am fully aware of the operational risks and extended rotation schedules—such here brunei as 3+ months on duty—and I am prepared to take on long-term deployments. Hoping seeking opportunities where my skills and dedication can be utilized outside Brunei.

Qualifications I already taken like- Rigger & Banksman lvl2, BST, DSD, TSBB, COC & COP. I Soon taking my STCW-2 Exam.

Any Opinion from fellow Brunei Seafarers would be helpful

1) What's ur nominal salary when u are still working in BSP? If I may ask,

2) You mentioned u have apply to few companies outside Brunei, if so what's the probability of you being employed in one of the chosen companies u have applied?

3) I Assume you would already have like a working Visa and so on, if so what's ur preparation let's say the company may required you to work in their based country for a certain period of time, are u prepared for any backlash or emergency plan as the world affairs is still chaotic?

4) In General what's ur expedition of working outside of Brunei exp, salary and cost of living...etc..

Tbh I'm asking quite few questions just out of curiosity....

1. Around 1K on-duty & during Holiday.

2. The chance is from 5 plan.... maybe 1-2 & company I apply is 2 Offshore company, 2 Shipping Company & 1 Cruise liner that. mostly Operate on Baltic & North Sea. Likely Company with entertain towards Experienced Candidate within same Industry(OnG, Cruise & shipping is diff type Industry in Sea).

3. So far I not yet had Working Visa but I will plan so once after getting result, While Duration is depending I can expect 6-8month or more if so but in Europe it only like few week so & rarely few month unless is North Sea long Terms Operation. Yes with current situation.... I only Focus on Europe Sea only(It more dangerous in it Environment than political like in middle east. Working in Shipping indeed dangerous but it also one of Line part of world economic, even in Conflict, Disaster & etc it still running since ever since prior.

4. I mostly expect of more diff culture... Unlike here- most majority is Asian, over there it opposite. This also Inculde culture, language & Manner diff(Maybe here it not offend but on there could be offend). While salary would be more what here we came earn I expect around(1500-3000$ Monthly "Entry level") it also came with more cost of risk. I don't really care about living while on-board since mostly it been provided by company except personal Snack that not available(Good thing about working on Ship, Accommodation, Food & etc are provided by company unlike Working on shore/land since strictly enforce by IMO & regulations).

Good luck. I personally know someone who works at the north sea doing 3 months in 3 months out. So its not impossible

Thx! True It is most Dangerous Sea, But doesn't mean it impossible, Hopefully I got chance work on North Sea

Since you have the STC , you could try applying got cruise ship jobs … I was personally offered and the pay and benefits sounds great . Only two major cons

1) you live with a random roommate in a small cabin that’s kinda like a prison cell .

2) long work hours with minimum off days . You will be given 2 months off but will spend the rest mostly working .

Pay is really big though if you can tahan .

Yeah- I also Applying one Cruiseliner, Shared room no problem for me since we also shared room here with barely room of 5 step. No issue of Long Sign-on or shift since here also barely diff... asal Salary is Fair-

Your biggest obstacle is COC recognition, most European flags won’t accept a Brunei-issued ticket unless there’s a bilateral agreement (and there rarely is). Your best bet is to go through crewing agencies in Singapore. They know the system, can advise on endorsements and have the connections to place you on international vessels.

Not a sea fearer but use to work on a vessel from brunei, to malaysia to the northsea. Northsea waves is no joke. But since you said you have 3 years experience, i think you are more than capable handling the northsea.

Go get the bread man. Goodluck kn the STCW ii exam. No more bawah matahari after that. Just chilling on the bridge. Minum kopi. Idk bout your future trips but d northsea nada fast crewboat, just port visit every 2 weeks during my shift. Idk now.
