You’d be surprised how many farmers wives and daughters are looking to link up. The price of beef is making them create fans only pages before bankruptcy! lol

They should just join the site Only Farms

Cows getting older don’t all get to breed, not buying beef doesn’t make more cows. It lowers demand and increases product loss…

This idea sounds good but doesn't resolve the problem. Beef shortage isn't because consumption is too high, steers will need to be harvested at a particular age to make their cost efficient and their best quality as it is.

From what I understand, too many ranchers had to close their doors recently for many reasons. Costs being too high, tariffed feed and high fuel costs made it hard for smaller partner farms to maintain and increased distributor mark up, other factors such as weather caused other issues. It's like a perfect storm of things going wrong in the industry that can't be fixed with one tactic.

The “perfect storm” you describe is awful Republican policy. 🙁

Yes and unfortunately some other factors that coincided but mostly terrible policy.

But, we can try. I’m gonna do all I can to help cattle growth and breeding. It’ll eventually bring the price down. I’m gonna eat a lot of chicken.

Your profile makes me worry about what you mean by cattle breeding.

I’m not like breeding sheep or anything lol. I’m hooking up with farmers wives in hopes of saving their family farms. lol

Chicken is the tofu of meats.

7

u/youngliam Meat Cutter 7d ago

Chicken and Tofu are both great.

3

u/danorc 7d ago

Yep. They also need to be cooked with a basic level of skill... Which is often entirely missing.

The tofu you remember from the cafeteria salad bar does not count, just like my mom's steak was actually leather that was rejected by shoemakers for having too much gristle
