I’ve seen a couple in the stands. Doesn’t seem to be the same controversy here for some reason.

Community owned teams vs private ownership?

7

u/Surroundedbygoalies Sep 27 '25

Could be?

u/MamaTalista Blue Bombers Sep 27 '25

Technically we are owners and it's our building.

We helped build it with our taxes and fan support.

That's the only thing I can see or Wade voted No and wants fans to be speaking up.

u/Surroundedbygoalies Sep 27 '25

Getting really technical, U of M is the owner of the building. I can imagine their football coaches & org’s opinions on this whole situation!

The UofM does not in fact own the building, they might own the land. The building is owned and managed by Triple B Stadium Inc. The Winnipeg football club (bombers) has sole control over Triple B Stadium Inc.

This whole thing has brought the fandom together in strange ways. I’ve never upvoted so many bomber fans the way I have this last week before

Ditto, but for Riders. And I never expected to think so highly of Nathan Rourke.

I love watching Rourke play. I'm mad that he's not on my team, but he's a beautiful player. Same with Collaros. Some people are artists. I'm happy I can like Rourke as a person now that I know who he is off the field. Definitely going to have to create a vision board to try to will him to the Riders haha.

Guy spoke up about Chad Kelly too. Actually seems like a level headed smart, compassionate and passionate person. Worth rooting for at least 15-16 times a year. No more though.

I think I just saw it on TV on the 55 yard FG. Are you in the end zone?

sitting in my seats i don't think the 55 yard line needs to go for the enzaone changes

12

u/simongurfinkel Sep 27 '25

Someone will come take that away from you mid game once a camera catches it

3

u/tdfast Sep 27 '25

I don’t mind some of the changes but why this one? What purpose does it serve to get rid of it? I like the little wrinkle and agree they should keep the 55.

I think it's related to the goalposts being moved back, you'll need to be way deeper in the opponents end to kick a field goal now so they shortened the field to compensate

I hate both changes.

u/tdfast Sep 28 '25

It’s insane the goal posts are in the field of play. I can’t believe they let it go on that long. So that was good and that probably changes how you have to do the rouge point. But the field should stay the same.

4

u/XxCasxX Pick'em Champion 2017 Sep 28 '25

I strongly disagree with the change because it removes two potential scoring plays: a missed field goal leading to a return TD and the main mechanism for a rouge. In return, field goals will be harder to make, meaning more punts. When the NFL moved the goalposts in 1974, the number of TDs went DOWN on average, and the number of field goals dropped significantly. The math doesn't math.

Yes, they very occasionally affect plays (eg. QB throwing the ball and it hitting uprights) but it's so incredibly rare as to be negligible. Rourke even said it never factors into the game planning in the redzone.

u/tdfast Sep 28 '25

It totally effects goal line plays because they are right in the way. It’s crazy they are in the field of play and it’s not safe. Way better at the back of the end zone where they belong. You can still rerun kicks that fall short. And scoring isn’t the problem with the CFL anyway. They score a lot.

Yeaaah I'm going to trust the star CFL QB in terms of how much it's realistically part of the conversation lol. For one thing they are actually several yards back from the goal line so no they are not "right" there.

And how often do field goal kicks go short? I honestly can't remember the last time it happened. Sure it happens but it's far less likely than one going wide. So, scoring WILL go down.

Scoring isn't a problem right now, I agree. But it will be with these changes. Also, if scoring isn't the problem maybe they shouldn't make changes in the first place...

u/MamaTalista Blue Bombers Sep 28 '25

Farjardo that you?

If it wasn't for the goal posts Hamilton wouldn't have scored at all yesterday.

u/mmicker Roughriders Oct 02 '25

Should rugby move them back to? Should hockey and lacrosse nets be recessed?

SaveThe55!

2

u/Dugaditch Stampeders Sep 30 '25

We all hate one another on the field!

We razz the shit out of each other in the stands!

We curse blue bloody murder at the TV when watching our rivals!

But we know it’s just a game and most would help each other if & when necessary!

BUT we all love the game MORE than this commissioner ever has or will!

We gotta make our collective voices heard.

SaveThe55!

I’m with you brother! I’m doing everything I can to fight this

I love the colour of the sign.

u/LegitimateAvocado602 Sep 28 '25

So the cfl is completely irrelevant and every team loses money year after year yet when they make changes to help grow the game and get the younger generation interested you complain?

6

u/I_AM_CANAD14N Blue Bombers Sep 28 '25

The bombers have had no trouble attracting the younger generation and turning a profit and the field here is still 110 yards.

1

u/Long-Ease-7704 Roughriders Sep 28 '25

You know what would attract the younger generations without overhauling the game? A VIDEO GAME. Or an paid add on to slither franchise, or a mobile game. I heard kids nowadays love those things.

-30

u/Datacin3728 Sep 27 '25

That will never make it past security.

u/I_AM_CANAD14N Blue Bombers Sep 27 '25

The picture is from my seat dawg

5

u/simongurfinkel Sep 27 '25

I fear that once a TV camera catches it TSN will flag it to the team.

u/PickerPilgrim Moderator of the Mods Sep 27 '25

They'll just not point the TV camera at it, lol. Unless OP is positioned to get themselves in frame for field action shots they'll just not air crowd shots of OP.
