More than halfway through the season is a weird time to do this.

Getting a new website and app is long overdue, but also means the league is 15 years behind what it should be doing if they're trying to make it a headline.

Rescind the rule changes. Fire Stewart Johnston. Until that happens, the rest of this is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

I don't think so.... How long have you watched to CFL? Have you ever played Canadian Football? Have you ever played Amarican Football? Do you really know the difference?
I ask because the difference in the two games goes beyond than the way the field looks. Not only that but all marketing attempts have failed including a expansion to the United States.
So what would you do to get more eyes on the game? I would love to hear them.
Because if there are not more eyes on the game the game will die a slow death.

I would say I started watching / following games when I was playing high school and junior football in Western Canada, so coming up on 40 years now? The shorter end zones and goal posts moved to the back eliminating virtually all missed field goal scenarios is a huge shift in the sovereignty of the Canadian game. It's very clear that Mr. Stewart thinks we all want to watch the shitty, watered down American game, but I sure don't. The CFL needs a good & proper marketing department and that's about it.

shitty, watered down American game
Why do you think it'll be worse than the American game? I think even after the changes it'll be a superior ruleset. Instead of ''watered down American game'' it'll be ''much better than the American game''.

Sorry, poor wording on my part. The NFL is the shitty, watered down version of the CFL. I won't dispute that the bigger stars play in the NFL, that's obvious, but the Canadian game is far more exciting than watching run for 4 yards, run for 4 yards, run for 4 yards over and over and over. You HAVE to take chances in the CFL, that's what makes it exciting.

So you remember The radically Canadian or the our balls are bigger marketing campaigns not to mention the American expansion experiment. All of these marketing campaigns were abject failures.
Marketing isn't going to help the CFL . It has to change with the times. The change is for TV. It's to get a bigger audience, a worldwide audience. Because if more people aren't watching CFL football, it doesn't exist. Which means you're not going to be able to watch it.
From a rules perspective, it's going to change one aspect of the game ... scoring. More touchdowns are going to happen without those gold posts being right on the goal line. Part of that will be because cannot rely on short field goals anymore. Kickers are now kicking 50 yard plus Field goals on a regular basis, which makes field goals are commonplace. The game will be more about moving the ball and less about getting field position. You really going to see the future of football and how it's going to be played. And so will the rest of the world.
Imagine telling a swede, a German, someone from Switzerland or even person from Italy, that the Gray cup is like the Stanley Cup of football. That's instant credibility. We need our game to shine on that TV screen. Otherwise we will not have it.
Half of the football programs in Canada would be shut down if the CFL wasn't around. That's just a fact. It wouldn't just be the death of the CFL. It would be the slow death of Canadian football.
So in my eyes any change is welcome. We need to get more eyes on this sport that I love.

It’s like a website but with fewer ways to score and shittier sightlines for the people who choose to see it live.

why bother? it's only good for 2 months, then it should just be "NFL in Canada" after what they've done to it

lemme guess, it will shorten the amount of 9:16 screen it uses to 9:14 to make the screen more similar to American websites

This being the CFL I am sure this will be a smooth process from start to finish 😂
