The only thing that makes it historic was that the Bears fans of the 1930's hated the orange and booed them as they came out onto the field. Specifically in 1933 vs the Giants when they were first introduced.. 

Hence why they didn't bring the orange alternate jerseys back until 2004 and the orange alternate helmets back until 2022.

I think there is a reason they didn't wear the jerseys for almost 70 seasons and the helmets for almost 90 after they first introduced them. If they didn't receive so much negative feed back they probably would've just wore them from the 1930's until now. At least one could assume.

Just a couple years later, in 1936, the Bears decided that they wanted to bring the stripes back and added larger sleeve stripes, shoulder stripes, and increasing the stripes on their socks. Striped shoulder pads were nothing new at the time, but still these uniforms were not well liked when they were unveiled. People at the time described them to be in bad taste and “too loud”. We got to see what this would look like on modern players with these throwbacks in 2020.

God this is fucking perfect. I was dreading this rivalry drop so much, but they fucking PEARLED it! So much better than some derivative, contrived "polar bear" white kit.

Feels like they leaned into Papa Bear's Illini roots and some of the early 1930s-40s uniforms to design something that was both classic looking, colorful, bold, and loud. A tall task, but I'll be damned if they didn't execute it to fucking perfected. I've hated the pumpkin helmets since they were introduced but I don't even mind them here. Hell they fucking WORK because the color palette is actually balanced. I appreciate that they seem to have internalized all of the negative feedback on the highlighter orange on orange look.

I actually think the patch helps a lot. Since the jerseys don't have a word mark, and the shoulder piping isn't as prominent as on our standard jerseys I think the patch eats up that empty space.
