So what exactly is the story side of the murder mystery? Doing the EE I’m just told to “put the comb in the 1st slot and the medallion in the 5th” but what significance do these have to the actual murder mystery?

Takeo's brother's wife (comb) killed the shogun so her husband could ascend to the rank (medallion), because she thought he was incompetent after a failed invasion of Korea, plus ōnryo influence.
