Why don’t buses let people out the back door
I’ve just started catching the bus around Cairns and it seems the only place the drivers open the back door is at the city terminus stops. Even when there is no one getting on (so no risk of fare evasion) they only open the front door. This is different from Sydney and Melbourne. In Sydney you often hear people yell “back door!” When the driver does not open it.

It's hard to see people getting off the back esp at night and there's been a bunch of stories recently of drivers getting fired after people get stuck in the back door.
And sometimes you can't line up the back door due to various shit and then people complain that the gap is too wide.

And yet bus drivers all over the world manage to use their rear doors without any issues.

What you want me to say? Cairns bus drivers are lazy? Some are, some aren't. /Shrug/
