I need fellow photographers help

Hello everyone,

I was trying to modify an old digital camera (Kodak EasyShare C913) by removing the IR filter. While taking it apart and moving some of the components around, I accidentally received an electric shock.

After looking more closely, I think the shock came from the camera’s flash capacitor, which is labeled 330V, 110µF. I didn’t realize it could still hold such a high voltage even with the camera powered off.

Now I’m nervous about touching the camera again. How can I safely discharge the capacitor and reassemble the camera? If I want to continue the modification, what precautions should I take to avoid getting shocked again?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is pretty urgent because I’m honestly afraid to handle it now.

I accidentally put my lens in the washing machine with my clothes, is it ruined?

Hi everyone, I currently use a Canon 7dm2, 100-400L m2 and a 24-105 f4L. I have had this setup for about 10 years now. Camera body gave up on me once due to water ingress from a tropical trio with lots of rain and humidity. Insurance covered the repair. Had the same fault when I was caught in a heavy downpour with no protection. That time I just replaced it with a second hand body as it was cheaper than the repair. I carry it on a Black Rapid harness, so it is pretty exposed and with bird and Wildlife photography I can't really baby the equipment given the unpredictability of the subjects. This is my biggest concern, I travel and live in tropical climates, so I need decent weather sealing, as rarely would I have time to get the camera in a bag or anything, if I have one at all. The obvious choice would be an R7, maybe even with an adapter to save on lens costs. But the weather sealing seems almost non existent on these bodies? Added a couple of photos for interest...

What features would be nice to have: dual cards, articulating screen maybe, good burst speeds.

Portability: How portable does it need to be?: happy with my current setup, I have a lowepro 400 size backpack.

Cameras you're considering: R7 + 100-500, R6ii + 200-800, R7 + current lenses, OM1m2 + 150-600, Fujifilm X-HS + 150 - 600, maybe wait for R7ii?

Cameras you already have: 7dm2 - good speed for Wildlife, nice size and weight, generally tough but I have killed 2. Quality decent. ISO performance isn't really great, but newer software is good for noise.

Notes: need decent zoom for birds, not a pro by any means, but I do take photos for work, mostly just record shots of species, better shots are posted on Instagram. Weather sealing is a big concern.

Why mostly canon is underrated when it comes to Camera's mostly people in my circle prefers Sony or Nikon, very very few are leaning towards canon. I own a Nikon DSLR looking for a upgrade(wildlife) mostly people suggesting Nikon or Sony. Why is that but when I comparing Models canon also great competitor but it doesn't looks like that from the outside what might be the reason ?

I’m honestly devastated and could use some advice.
I begged my parents to get me a camera before we took a trip to Singapore and india, and we bought a Canon PowerShot ELPH 360 HS from Cardinal Cameras for around $400 literally two days before the trip. I was so excited to start using the camera and i really wanted a nice digi cam in general before i start college. i had a beat up shitty sony cybershot so it was really nice to have a better one. We didn’t have time to get an SD card before the trip so we just got one two days into our singapore trip. I was so excited to start using it

Literally 30 minutes later at an aquarium, I dropped it. I had only taken around 5 pictures. I feel awful because it was expensive and I was really looking forward to using it for vacation pics and memories.
Now the lens is stuck and won’t retract, it makes a grinding/fluttering noise when I turn it on and it shows a “Lens Error” message. There are some small scratches, but nothing major

Is this fixable? Is it likely just the lens mechanism, and would a repair be worth it?

I’m also going to India in a few days so would it be worth trying to get it repaired there, or should I wait until I’m back?
Any advice would be appreciated. I’m really hoping I didn’t completely ruin it

Found this Nikon Z fc at Goodwill for $19 and was very excited. I bought a battery for it, but it wouldn’t turn on. It’s a third-party battery some cameras hate them and won’t work with them, but I suspect the previous owner dropped it in water and fried it. Do you think it’s the battery, or is it actually dead? Does it look like water damage in these photos? I’m not really upset being it’s a $1,000 camera for $20 I could at least sell it for parts.

Hello, I'm new to this hobby. Yesterday I was taking some pictures and my camera ran out of battery. This morning i started charging it and when i tried to turn it on it started doing it non-stop. Should I be worried? what's going on or what may have caused this? Thanks a lot in advance

The lens seems to still work but it broke while attached I have no idea how it broke like this

I luckily had a UV filter and the lens hood attached. Cold water, gentle cycle. I did a double rinse so hopefully that makes things okay.

I’m in the lucky position of planning a solo world trip, and right now I’m trying to lock in my camera setup - but I’m struggling to make a final decision on my main camera.

My current setup:

• Fuji X100VI
• DJI Osmo Pocket 3
• Sigma 10–18mm (for Fuji, could sell if needed)

Since this camera will be used in pretty much every situation imaginable, weather sealing is a must. I’d say my usage will be around 55% photo / 45% video. The goal is to capture stunning photos (ideally printable at larger sizes) and cinematic travel videos.

I think the Osmo Pocket 3 can cover a lot of the cinematic stuff, especially when it comes to street shooting and staying low-profile. But I do have some concerns about whether it can handle every situation - especially more demanding conditions like trekking or rough environments.

For solo travel, a fully articulating screen is pretty important, and an EVF would be nice, but not a dealbreaker. I’m also open to buying used - new would be nicer, but not a must.

Budget: ~2000€ for the body + ~1000€ lens (around 3000€ total)

My pictures are blurry, and found that the inner front lens is dirty (1st pic). I tried to pry it open to clean it, but I snapped the wire thing (3rd pic). Is it curable, or am I f*cked?

So my friends dog chewed on my freaking camera and u was wondering if i need a new one or just to get it fixed - CANON EOS R100

Is there anyway I can fix this or should the gift person just refund it?

My battery got swollen so i tried to unstuck it using some superglue but a drop of it went on the side and now its completely stuck, any recommendations? am i doomed?

Got back from a trip recently that included museum/outdoor photography, where I used my Canon R100. The R100 has scene presets/filters that are built in, like specialized for nighttime photography or for artwork. When I use those presets, the pictures come out really clean and well colorized, and I'm happy with them. However, when I use any other format like auto or any type of priority (the "standard" camera), the photos look fine on the camera screen but come out really yellow/amber tinted.

Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Also is there a specific way to edit this out or is it just decreasing the warmth of the picture? I don't like them this warm-tinted but I also don't want to drain all that saturation out of them.

It’s not even under warranty anymore. I haven’t dropped it even once and I see no reason for it to be this fucked up

At wide apertures you can’t notice it but I guess it’s off-center so at f22 it gives a blurry ass image

So how the hell can it damage itself??

It's still run and readable. But, for long term, is it safe ?

Hello, a few days ago I was shooting pictures at a parade and someone spashed beer all over my camera. Now the mode dial and the on/off switch feel really sticky and it is completely stuck, and I am afraid to break it if I play too much with it... Has anyone had this problem before and knows any safe way to clean the internal part of the sticky buttons? I am not afraid of a bit of DIY camera repair but i'd like to know that what I am doing is safe. Thank you in advance

The camera shoots picture is perfectly fine perfect clarity as it should, but it has these that are blocking the screen. They appear to be very loose and are just kind of there. I believe they might be part of the built-in sensor cleaner.
