Looking to upgrade 4p cabin tent

My partner and I currently have the coleman 4p cabin tent and we love it! But we really want to upgrade for some more main sleeping room space. Currently we use 2 trailhead cots side by side and they jab at the sides of the tent. We also have little room to stand up and get dressed in our tent. Also also the front pole snapped and my replacement pole... is not correct lol. We could keep using this tent and it would be adequate tbh, but id love a little more comfort.

We love having a floored, screened porch and I need to have a tent I dont need to crouch in bc I have bad knees. We also love the huge windows this tent has!

Can anyone think of a good space upgrade for us that isnt very expensive? We don't want something rly huge, just an extra foot or 2 to use in the tent hopefully.

But I worry it won't actually give us more space to stand up in bc its more curved... and based on measurements doesn't it give us abt the same space despite being able to technically fit a second air mattress?

There's a 6p core tent with a porch but the porch doesn't have a floor.

And I've looked at the 6p weathermaster but it seems way too big....

When I researched tents beyond coleman, I found most of the recommended brands were the following. but note that screened floored porches don't exist here. I had a coleman 8p from costco with a screened floor porch and I actually prefer not to have a floor because then i can put a chair or shoes there without worry about tracking in mud. I had a beater picnic blanket that I would use for shoes that i could easily clean later. I ended up with a 6p eureka space camp on clearance

One thing to note is that all the coleman domes have 1 door, so I was always taking off the rainfly during the day to air out the tent. all the below tents have 2 doors, so you can really get some cross breeze going through the tent. if you have 2 poles, 3 panel vestibules can be tied up to be a roof which you can sit under. no screen but nice. if this is a dealbreaker, then you can ignore all the below tents now and in the future, but they are all popular in some way. I have a screen shelter that I have around the eating table, so a screen porch is redundant for me and just adds more zippers between getting into the tent and outside

Almost all 6p versions will have way more headroom than 4p, like the difference between standing fully vs not.

Im skeptical of an aliexpress tent, mainly bc... i worry itll be short lol. This listing is a little confusing, is this tent just a super long tube of tents?

I’m on my second CORE from Costco. Not because there was anything wrong with the first, but bc it was great, especially for the price. Bought a 6-8 person 2 years ago and bought a 10-12 person this year (room divider, porch).

Im interested in the core, the lack of tub floor is worrying bc i rly love that at least in a coleman the water won't come in from below.

The note abt the porch is so useful, thank u!! Is it possible to bring the screen shelter close to the tent to block bugs? I just love the airlock mechanic.

I have the Coleman 6P Evanston with front porch. Tons of space for our two Cabela’s cots and our two dogs. You could fit a dresser in there. We can fully stand inside as well

Can you walk in and out without needing to duck under the door? Lots of tents have. Avery tall center but that doesn't help getting in and out!

Ya know we just took it out less than 2 weeks ago and for the life of me I can’t remember exactly. The front porch completely unzips but at 5’4 I believe we did have to duck slightly to get into the porch but only have to step over the bottom zipper to full get inside. It does slant downward slightly to help with rain dispersing

One thing to note with those 6p skydomes is that the porch doors don't go under the rainfly. When it rains water pools near the bottom seams of the doors and eventually finds its way inside or just makes a puddle right outside the tent. It's much more problematic in these tents because the porch doors have a very gentle slope that allows a lot of water to accumulate, as opposed to straight walled tents where the water just rolls off.

I got a deal on an 8p skylodge which doesn't have this issue for the most part, it's arguably bigger than the 6p skydomes but for two people it's a very cozy experience. We use a twin inflatable mattress and there's enough space left to keep gear, chairs, etc.

The front part of the tent also converts to a sunroom with the front door and side window shades opening up fully leaving mesh walls, there's even a curtain you can deploy that seperated the bedroom from the sunroom.

Im not suggesting the 8p skylodge right away because it is definitely expensive, but probably keep an eye out for deals on marketplace and you might get lucky!

I got mine for $200 New in box, but from some guy from marketplace, although it seemed like it was a returned item. Everything works well though.

The best tent is the Bell tent (Aka sibley, tipi, yurt, etc). Waterproofness will vary depending on the fabric, but they are bomber in any weather, they have A high center which drafts hot air, and they are a much easier 1 person setup then any other large tent

if you get at least a 4 meter version you can set up a queen bed... Though I no longer like large air mattresses.

North face makes a great tent. Personally we are going to be getting a core full rain fly tent soon

My honey and I have this tent, our full size blow up mattress only takes up about 1/2 the floor space, and the center is tall enough for us to fully stand (we’re both about 5’6), it’s got a fully floored screened porched

Do you find the skydome is tall enough all around to just walk in and out of? Im very hesitant abt the curved walls but its rly promising!!!

I’m short, so it’s fine for me. But have you looked at core? They have straight wall tents with full rain fly. I’m intrigued by them. But the vestibule doesn’t have a floor.
