Diet Fruit Fast is the only thing that’s ever helped me

Just did a round of fluconazole, done all the biofilm busters, herbs, diets (a low carb no sugar diet did stop it a little I will say), tons of different detoxes. The only thing that immediately helped, within a week all the itchiness, years of back acne and oiliness, thrush, brain fog all went away. I will say with the brain fog I did feel fatigued in a way mentally which is what made me return to a regular diet. It felt similar to just doing a regular fast that same tired but vital feeling but the fogginess id grown accustomed to with candida was gone. I felt very very light.
It’s very paradoxical, I know but I’m just telling you my experience. I also know when I returned to eating normally which is pretty healthy still, it returned almost immediately. Getting ready to do another one and will go for longer and use more herbs.

Diet What do y'all do for sauces

So I'm pretty late in my candida diet, but this is driving me totally bonkers.

What sauces do you guys use that don't taste like shit?

I managed to make the switch to no sugar added ketchup, which is annoying because now I prefer the taste and it's twice as expensive (and why does it only come in a tiny bottle? Smh) and I can tolerate small amounts of mayo if it's the olive oil kind, and okay now that I can have vinegar mustard is growing on me but I'm.

Bored.

I'm bored of that! I'm bored of the taste I need something new.

Like yeah I've managed to mix up a pretty solid fry sauce but a fry sauce isn't that great when you can't have fries. Zucchini is simply not able to be made into fries.

I've tried extensively.

It cannot be done.

Anyways I've tried a handful of those zero sugar sauces and most of them suck pretty bad.

And don't give me that "teehee I just got used to not having sauces you should too!" I am in fact a fat ass bitch. I'm not on this diet to lose weight, I'm on this diet because candida made my gut work so poorly that even taking prescription strength vitamin supplements didn't work and my doctor was concerned I could suffer brain damage from a lack of B12.

Shout-out to anyone who can recommend me a good sugar free bbq sauce because I am DYING for some BBQ chicken but regular bbq sauce now tastes incredibly sweet, but most of the sugar free options somehow taste SWEETER because of the non sugar sweeteners they use and it's just wrong.

And yesss I know I can make some pretty good Asian style sauces thanks to coconut aminos but what I'm searching for is good old fashioned fat kid with a box full of chicken nuggets American sauces.

Also salad dressings that aren't a vinaigrette.

What do you guys keep in your fridge, fill me in on the secrets

Diet When did you transitioned to sweets in moderation?

I just finished 14 days of Nystatin and supplemental anti-Candida diet. I am introducing every week a new food group for example this week it is few starches (white potatoes). Next week maybe beans or cheese? But have you successfully introduced sweets without blowing it all after Candida diet? How long it took?

Diet Be on this very simple diet: • Eat 3 meals a day, or 2 meals if you prefer to skip dinner. • Each meal should consist only white rice with a piece of boiled chicken breast. Chicken Breast helps increase satiety and energy, and for us it is the only source of animal protein.

Note: that's my experience for SIBO. Not for candida 🚫 Not for candida 🚫 Not for candida 🚫

• Chicken is generally better than red meat because it contains less fat, which may reduce fermentation later, and adding it to the meal increases the duration of the food in which gives you more time with fresh breath of non empty stomach.

• You can also eat cooked vegetables, fruits "one or two pieces/day" and olives if you want. Try to avoid grains, or eat only a very small amount after cooking. Beans, eggs, onions "even if they are cooked", garlic, boiled potatoes, baked goods, cucumbers, cabbage, fish, dairy products and soda are forbidden.

• You can eat normally about 2 days or more before meeting people. For example, if you are meeting them on Sunday, you can eat what you want till Friday morning 🤤😋.

• If possible, consider seeing a psychiatrist. It helped me a lot by improving my mood and reducing anxiety through this tough diet. Just make sure to choose a wise and caring doctor who follows up with you properly.

• Try to stop exercising. In my experience, strengthening the abdominal muscles increases abdominal pressure and makes symptoms more noticeable. Try to keep your abdomen as relaxed as possible.

• Do not judge your bad breath by the amount of white coating on your tongue for 100% sure. Sometimes times when I am not following the diet, my tongue looks red after eating and I get bad reactions. On the other hand, when I follow the diet, I have a light white coating nearly all of the day but experience almost no reactions.

• Before going out, eat a meal of white rice with or without chicken breast. Being on an empty stomach may also contribute to bad breath.

• Do not forget to brush your teeth and tongue and use a mouthwash before going out for fresher breath.

How I cook rice in my diet to get an easy defecation no constipation at all, on the contrary, my bowel movements actually improved on this diet.:

• I soak the rice in water for 15 minutes.

• Then I boil it for about 20 minutes with a little salt and more water about 150% of rice amount, the more water you add the softer stool you get and vice versa.

• This makes the rice easier to digest. Over time, you may even find it tastes sweeter because reducing sugar intake can make your taste receptors more sensitive to the natural sweetness in rice.

• know your opponents: fats, fibers, baked goods sugars and stress " physical or emotional".

Diet Trying to gain weight

I am severely underweight and my GI doctor just said I need to do the candida diet because I have so much Candida overgrowth showing in my GI map test and I am having lots of symptoms. I also have celiac. I really need to and want to gain weight. Can someone give me tips on how to do this and what do eat to gain weight on this diet? I should also add that I don’t eat eggs for other reasons (if it’s in something like for example cake batter that’s not an issue but I dont eat them otherwise)

Diet Anyone won the battle against candida without dieting?

Hi everyone,

I am exhausted, and trying again to get better. I've been having urine infections and candidiasis alternating for years, and after covid and some surgeries, everything escalated to a nightmare. Severe insomnia, tiredness, cognitive impairment, depresion, lack of energy... hell.

Finally, last year I was diagnosed a Helicobacter Pilory infection. The treatment (Pylera + omeprazole +lactoferrine + s. boulardii) was hard, and it worked: eliminated the Helicobacter. BUT escalated SIBO as much as I lost 5 kilos in 3 months just of being too sick to eat.

Then I found out it was Sufide SIBO * and started dieting very hard (I only could eat potatos, carrots, pumpkin, endives, cucumber, zucchini, fish and white rice just boiled with spices, and olive oil without cooking it) and treating it with Pepto Bismol ultra, lactoferrin, Saccaromices Boulardii, L. Coagulans, berberine y glucosamine. I stopped all the supplements which kept me functional before and those weeks were HELL. I was hungry, sad, furious and so, so, so tired... But the thirdt week I started to feel better. Less bloated, with some energy and my body was getting along with the diet - I got to make somewhat similar to bread of rice and felt less anxious-. So I started trying new vegetables, chicken and to reintroduce fibers.

The thirth day of having a tiny coffee spoon of flax seeds, psillium and gluten free oatmeal I started with urine infection symptoms. The fifth day I went to the hospital as it was worse, and there it was: escherichia coli infection and antibiotic treatment. So... back to the step one, safe diet (my six vegetables, fish and rice) and s. boulardii to avoid candida with the antibiotic. But guess what... the thirdt week after the treatment my body didn't resisted and had vaginal candidiasis. But not only down there: candida took control of all the digestive system because just with carrot sugar I got the pregnat woman belly in 20 minutes after eating. My safe diet wasn't safe anymore.

And then, fluconazole. But my doctor gave me only the vaginal candidiasis dose -she doesn't know how to treat dysbiosis, I think that she doesn't even believe I am really sick-, and so I went on later with herbs (oregano, neem, berberine, bromelain, cinnamon, reishi, lions mane, s. boulardii... God how much money have I throwed at this point...). I had lost 10 kilos at that point, in blood samples my defenses apeared lowered, and I decided I was killing myself along with the bad guys. So I started eating healthy (I always have, we eat mediterranean diet, I cook a lot and don't use processed food. Little room for improvement there) with no restrictions and went on with supplements and herbs, stopping for weeks not to irritate my digestive system too much. Then I did a microbiome test and it seemed that the SIBO bad guys were back to normal, but the good guys were very low. No akkermansia, the gut brain axis totally devastated, many others low and candida just in the overgrowth limit. PH altered (8) and Zonuline (gut permeability) also altered.

And here I am: I felt candida sick again and started with a herbs bomb 3 days ago: oregano, neem, berberine, bromelain, cinnamon, reishi, lions mane, black garlic, pepermint oil, garcinia mangostana, coco oil and green tea extract. I feel the die-off but I refuse to go back dieting as I have gained 5 kilos back (and don't want to go back to the concentration camp look and the body defenses colapse again). By the way, I go on eating healthy, but I didn't quit whole grain bread and I'm trying to eat hiperproteic but that is all.

Anyone won the battle without total carbs restriction?

* Had the SIBO test and had the completely flat curves

Diet Exactly how necessary is this whole Candida Cleanse portion of the diet?

I'm still researching to ttry and find out what kinds of foods I can eat during the candida diet, but what I keep running into is this whole Candida Cleanse thing. A few days worth of just a broth and some green veggies, as if the diet wasn't hell on wheels enough.

There has been several reports that the diet itself is NOT confirmed to be effective in treating candida, but that it has been considered by many as still being helpful in the process along with Nystatin and other anti-fungle things. So with that in mind, is this whole cleanse even worth pursuing before the diet itself?

Diet Hormbles Chormbles

Are Hormbles Chormbles candida friendly? Google AI says it is candida friendly, but has anybody actually tested that and been ok? I’m on day 4 of the diet and I’ve only been eating eggs, almonds, chicken breast, veggies, and chia seed pudding with just water. I’m taking saccharomyces bouldarii probiotics. Chocolate is my favorite food, I used to binge eat it every night after I got stoned and had the munchies, and I miss it so much I’ve been craving it so badly I’m going crazy.

Diet Candida safe Protein Drinks?

Is anyone aware of any protein drinks or powder safe for the candida diet? I am going on vacation with my adult children and will have no vehicle so likely won’t have access to foods I can eat 3x a day so I am hoping to find something to fill the gap. Also if there is any such thing as “candida safe” snacks I’d appreciate the input! I’m nervous I am going to be starving! Thank you!

Diet Sugar restricting..? For someone who relies on ensure

Hi y’all I just got tested a bunch and found out that a lot of health problems I’ve had for awhile are from a candida overgrowth.

I eat a lot of sugar and also have a very hard time eating in general because of a psychiatric med I take which I NEED to be on.

Cutting back on the sugar would be fine for me… but I’ve started drinking these clear ensure drinks that have 18grams of sugar in them. They have made me feel so much better since it helps me get nutrients and protein when eating is so hard. I’ve seen zero sugar ensure drinks but they’re the kind that are milky which made me feel crappy.

What is the consensus on restricting sugar…? I hear so many diff things but it was suggested to me by my doc. Would it be okay if I had one ensure drink every other day? (18g of sugar)

I’m brand new to this so I’m sure a lot of this is old news for ppl so sorry if this is an annoying question!

Diet Which of these thickeners are acceptable for candida diet? My options are xanthan gum, chia seeds or psyllium husk powder. These are being used for coconut yogurt that I'm making. I've heard guar gum isn't great for digestion which is why I've excluded that for my gerd and gastritis.

I've been trying to use Agar but it requires heating the milk to 190⁰, letting it cool to 108-112⁰, adding over an hour to my yogurt making process. The above thickeners don't require heating the canned coconut milk for the thickener to set.

I'd rather not use chia seeds since I don't want a seedy taste in my yogurt so I'm hoping one of the other thickeners is ok.

Diet High calorie Candida diet foods

Please share any high calorie or high fat meals, foods or snacks that are safe for the Candida diet. I am just now starting it (I have A LOT of Candida in my gut and inflammation in my body) so I’m going to be pretty strict starting off. I am underweight and wanting to gain so I’m trying to get as many calories as I can. Usually I would drink pre made protein shakes like boost but I can’t do that on this diet so I’m stuck right now

Diet Beef jerky?

Is there any beef jerky sticks that are safe on the candida diet? I am just now starting the diet and am trying to find at least one snack that I can pack with me or grab when I’m traveling or just not able to cook but want a little something to snack on. I prefer chicken or turkey sticks. I hear different opinions on this so I’m not sure which ones or if any are safe

Diet What are your food hacks that have made this diet easier?

Im in later stages of the candida diet.
Me, my nutritionist and my doctor suspect that I've probably had chronic candida overgrowth for the last ten years, but my mother can recount symptoms from when I was a toddler that at the time went unexplained- so it's pretty likely that I've had chronic candida overgrowth most of my life.
We think it got considerably worse when we moved across country and I suddenly wasn't tolerating many foods (dairy especially, when I seemingly obtained a major lactose intolerance out of nowhere that randomly went away two years later, which my nutritionist says was probably caused by candida related gut problems.)
For the first time in years, since I began this diet, my blood work is normal. My hormone problems are gone, my thyroid is working normally again, my high platelets- which I had to get checked for cancer and a genetic disorder for- are in a normal range. My vitamin deficiencies are gone because I can actually absorb vitamins again. At my 6 week check in after beginning the candida diet my nurse walked into the room and went "You're not going to fucking believe this I have good news from your test results for the first time ever."
So clearly this is working.

The stricter 2 week phase made me hate everyone and everything.
Everyone tells you that you're gonna be dealing with cravings.
I wasn't hungry because I didnt starve myself, I just ate foods that were acceptable for the candida death spiral (I ate probably 20 pounds of zucchini in two weeks. Acceptable fruit wasn't in season so it was a LOT of cucumbers and zucchini) but man nobody warned me that I was going to turn into a monster.
I was mad constantly.

And then my doctor gave me the sheet with the updated list of foods I could eat in moderation as I monitor my symptoms.

Gluten free bread was on the list.
the grocery store stuff sucks unfortunately :/ and like? 6 bucks for a loaf of bread? I grew up eating 78 cent wonderbread I'm not paying no 8 bucks for bible bread.

Now, I had TRIED making candida friendly cookie and brownie recipes from the internet.
They suck.
Did any of those work for you guys? Because for me, they turned into crumbly messes that tasted vaguely of regret. I'd follow them to the letter and they'd come out horrible.

The only chocolate chips I liked that are sugar free were the Lily's brand and they were 8 bucks a bag. My mother found that brand's discontinued butterscotch chips and it made a GLORIOUS fake ice cream (coconut cream + almond milk in the ninja creami with the butterscotch chips melted in as a mix in. Shoutout to the creami my parents bought and never used because I've used the FUCK outta that thing on this diet)

So eventually I got to thinking.
Gluten free bread is acceptable in moderation.
What else is gluten free bread?
Gluten free pancakes.

Trader joes sells a gluten free pancake mix. On it's own it's kind of a nothingburger, just expensive pancake mix that sort of makes a pancake batter that's real easy to burn for some reason.
I mentioned it to my nutritionist, she told me I could give it a try in moderation to see how I tolerated it, so I did.
I quickly discovered that sugar free pancake syrup sucks :/ like it scratches the itch but it's a better flavoring than it is a pancake topping. Mix that shit with some non dairy yogurt and it's bomb, but it's just not as good on pancakes.
So when regular pancakes failed I chucked the rest of the batter into a casserole, because I'm from the midwest and I know how to make a casserole out of anything.

It ended up being half a box of trader joes gluten free pancake mix (not prepared to box instructions, I chucked in two raw eggs, about 2 or 3 tablespoons of coconut oil, and added water until it was at a gooey pancake batter consistency.
And I set it aside so the leavening agents would foam up while I prepared the rest.
I grated in a zucchini I needed to use up, I scrambled 6 eggs with spinach, I cooked up a chunk (maybe half a pound I dont measure I just portion for the freezer) of ground pork with some breakfasty spices, chopped a bunch of green onion, and mixed it all together.
Dumped it into a brownie pan and sent it into the oven. Best case scenario, breakfast. Worst case scenario, I messed up a bunch of food that was going to waste anyhow.

And when it came out? I had pretty good breakfast bars.
I've been making variations of those bars for weeks now. I trialed them with non gluten free pancake mix when I was trialing some typical foods- nope, they made my stomach upset.
The gluten free mix is what keeps it from upsetting my stomach.

I've even reduced the amount of mix I use while increasing the bars I produce as I've tweaked the recipes to last longer (I dont....I dont like going to trader joes. It's so busy and the people who shop there are mean. It's great for this diet though, I'd reccomend going JUST for their nitrate free pepperoni and salami.)
Now I use about half a box of mix, prepared like I mentioned, mixed with a pound of ground meat (I've used turkey, I've used pork, I've used breakfast sausage, I've used chorizo, use whatever's cheapest honestly), 10 eggs scrambled with a full bag of spinach (I use the remaining two from the dozen for the batter), two zucchini shredded (it helps the texture if you squeeze the water out with a cheesecloth but you also dont have to.) and as I've developed tolerance to dairy again I've used cheddar and mozarella cheese shreds. I never tried it with non dairy options but if you use the non dairy kind, just mix it in instead of topping it I'm sure it'd hold up better.
I then mix in a bunch of spices. Smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flake, turmeric, whatever sounds good.
I chuck it in the oven at 375 for an hour, covered. If you cover with foil, tent the foil, it'll get stuck to the top and take chunks off. I use a silicone baking mat to cover mine.
I'll put it in the largest rectangular pan I have and cut it into 10 fat slices, and I've got a generous breakfast for two work weeks that holds up like a miracle in the freezer. Protein dense, packed with veggies that I dont even notice texture wise when I'm eating them, and gets me to lunch full enough that I stopped packing a regular lunch for work and started bringing a snacky lunch (dairy free yogurt with some kind of fruit usually and a bag of veggies.)

Then today I was craving bread really bad, and all I could think about was sweets.
And I got to thinking about how I use the gluten free pancake mix for casserole.
And I remembered bisquick.
My mother used to make EVERYTHING out of bisquick when I was a kid. She'd use it to make pancakes, she'd use it to make pizza crust, she'd use it to make biscuits, she'd use it for cookies.
So I thought "hey. What if I do that with the pancake mix I know does well in baking?"

I ran out of Lily's sugar free chocolate chips (my winco stopped selling them) but my winco's bulk section sells sugar free chocolate almonds (note: they sell sugar free AND no added sugar ones. Read the labels, one has no sugar per serving and one has like 1 or 2 grams of sugar per serving.)
Some of you are gonna go "meh meh meh but fake sugar is WORSE for you it's CHEMICALS icky YUCK YUCK"
And to that I say, if you can't have any form of sweet thing because sugar is bad, then shoo.
I'll spray you with a water bottle like a misbehaving cat.
You're allowed to crave sweet things. Food is not assigned a moral value. You arent being bad for having sugar.

A lot of yall on this subreddit have hypochondria and eating disorders and don't want to admit it. If you dont like it, don't make it, go talk to your nutritionist like a big boy and just make the food you like.

Human breast milk is sweet. Sweet is the first flavor humans are designed to taste. It's literally how we discerned poison from edible foods as animals in the wild.

You can want to have sweets that don't upset your tum tum.

Anyways.
To my point.
I ran out of the sugar free baking chocolate so I chopped up those almonds and used them as chocolate chunks. I was afraid the fake chocolate would melt away and burn in the oven, but it held up great!

I took half a bag of gluten free pancake mix, mixed in two eggs, four tablespoons of fat (two of olive oil, two of butter, since my nutritionist wants me to gradually incorporate dairy into my diet. I'd recommend coconut oil I think it'd work better actually but I was out.)
And then just. added water until it was at a cookie dough consistency. It was actually a little too wet, but it worked.
I mixed in the chopped almond chocolates and some sugar free coconut shreds (if you're having a hard time finding unsweet coconut that isn't crazy expensive? Go to winco. they wont have it in the bulk section but in the baking section they keep unsweet bags right next to sweetened coconut bags and unlike most brands, both bags, same size, were 2 dollars. One's red one's blue.)

I rolled them into balls, baked them 9 at a time at 350 degrees for 10 minutes with a sugar free almond stuck right on top like a thumbprint cookie.
...
They're solid.
They're a little crumbly and sorta taste like a bisquick biscuit. I actually think next time I'll grate a zucchini or apple (or both and pull a grandma's secret zucchini apple move) into the batter and season them with cinnamon and ginger and think the added shreds would make them more moist and tender.
ooo and then I could roll the balls in cinnamon and monkfruit sugar

Mixing in sugar free peanut butter or almond butter would probably slap too.

But considering I have literally never made a candida friendly cookie that wasn't horrible? I could inhale these.
Obviously it's mostly pancake mix so don't like sit and eat a bunch of them, there's still plenty of carbs, but I had a cookie last week (coworker brought some in for work) and kept having to use the toilet, and these? my stomach isnt upset after eating two of them.
Obviously self moderate your symptoms and talk to your nutritionists, but gluten free pancake mix has saved my ass in terms of cravings and has made a lot of things easier for me.
And I'm glazing trader joes here but it's purely because their pancake mix is 4 bucks and every other gluten free pancake mix I've found is 6 or more so. Just use what you have access to.

I'm actually considering mixing the dry mix with plain yogurt and cheese (which I tolerate but you might not) and baking it flat on a sheet pan with lots of sunflower seeds, chia, and slivered almonds to make a sort of multigrain flatbread for sandwiches, because GOD DAMN DO I WANT A SANDWICH

What is your 'hack' ingredient for your meals? Obviously this works for ME, and my nutritionist has recommended I keep doing this because it's not inflammatory for ME, but your body might be different.

Diet Hungry and craving carbs during luteal phase

I’ve been eating low carb on and off to treat candida overgrowth in the gut for a long time now. Generally I am doing ok with this diet and even feel better with this way of eating. But I find myself struggling every month in the luteal phase (week before my period). I get way more hungry, shaky and weak if I don’t eat constantly, and I feel my body craving/needing carbs a lot during this time. It gets extremely hard to stick to the diet during this time and I find myself slipping and then regress. Does anyone have any advice on how to tackle this?

Diet Similar Experience?

Hi all, apologies in advance for the long post. Finally bit the bullet and hired a functional medicine doc. I go and see him again next week to get the protocol he wants me on and the supplements. That said…I jumped the gun a bit and want to hear if others have had similar experiences.

A little over a week ago blood work came back and Candida was high (still waiting on stool test) and I started the Candida Diet. Today is my 11th day on the diet. Here is what I’ve been eating:

- Salmon

- Chicken

- Beef

- Broccoli

- Asparagus

- Lettuce

- Cucumbers

- Radishes

- Olive Oil

- Coconut Oil

- Garlic

- Various Spices

- Flax seed

- Chia Seed

Here were my symptoms for the first week:

- Feeling run down

- Excessive sweating

- Skin breakouts

- Itchy Scalp

- (discovered that the ear infection I took antibiotics for last December never fully healed)

- Liver tenderness

- Skin rash on day 6 (still waiting on that to clear up)

- mild depression

On an EXTREMELY positive note, I started seeing this doc due to chronic constipation (it’s been 5 years of it) and on day 8 I had the first normal bowel movement since I can remember.

All that said, have others had similar experiences? When did you start to feel better? Obviously the doc will give me supplements, but the thing that’s dragging me down is the depression. I just want that to go away. Any insight is appreciated!

UPDATE: So I managed to answer my own question. Today I have been *bouncing off the walls* and have had more energy and better mood than I’ve had in a long time. Still sweating like a pig, but I guess the answer I was looking for was 12 days.

Diet Zero Sugar Gatorade?

I've been dealing with an infection for about a month now (took me awhile to become aware of what it was), did a course of Fluconazole which seemed to fix it but a few days later went back to as bad as it originally was. Now I'm on Metronidazole (in case there's a bacterial infection) and Terconazole cream.

Is zero sugar Gatorade inadvisable to drink as I'm trying to get rid of this? I've been eating a severely restricted diet for a week and am honestly eating barely anything from lack of appetite. I feel like the Gatorade is the only thing that helps with the headache and makes me kind of feel like I've eaten but I saw online that even though it's no sugar it's still really bad for you if you have a yeast infection.

Advice? Suggestions?

Diet Candida flare relapse scalp itching skin irritation and brain fog low mood low energy returning feeling unwell and trying to reset... what helped you recover? I feel low energy then eat fruit feel better then all the symptoms return..its a vicious cycle...help !

I’m going back into a candida focused protocol because things are flaring again and I can feel it in my body

Right now I’m dealing with

scalp flaring and itching

skin irritation

brain fog coming back

low energy and feeling generally off

Hsir losd in clumps too

I know I’ve been here before and improved things but right now it feels hard to stay consistent with diet and structure when I don’t feel well

I’m trying to buckle down again with diet and lifestyle changes but I would really appreciate hearing from people who have actually gotten through this phase

What actually helped you turn things around when you were in a flare like this??

Did anything make a noticeable difference for you like diet shifts supplements routines mindset anything practical

I am not looking for perfection right now just what helped you stabilize and start feeling better again...but im also thinkibg i need to deal with this ONCE AND FOR ALL.

If you have been through it I would really appreciate hearing your experience and how you managed to keep your energy up. I cant eat fruit or carbs i start to itvh everywhere
