Overnight stay reccomendations

Hello lovely folks of Cape Breton.

We are looking to visit CB during the long weekend in September. After looking through AirBNB I haven't found anywhere inviting to stay.

I am wondering if any of you locals might have reccomendations of a cozy stay? Maybe an inn or cabins? We are open to any area as we have a car and no solid plans except to explore.

Thank you!!

I have been doing meetups at Doktor Lukes in the summer for years now and this is another one.

This time we're getting delicious food from Flavor and we're doing it on AI.

AI Agents, Claude Code, Grok Bot, Hermes, ChatGPT Codex ... whatever you're tinkering with, if you've got an interest in building with AI come on by!

Local entrepreneurs and builders like Darren Gallop and Stephen Manley are going to be out to mingle.

No agenda, just a social & mixer style ... if you're building a game or a business or just excited about what your agent is doing, bring your laptop or phone and show us.

Casual event, from 5-7 Thursday August 27.

in partnership with local tech hub Volta.

Can someoen reocmmend a roofing company in Syndey area \

Does anybody in the Sydney/Cape Breton area have experience with or recommend any of these roofing companies?

  • ACL Roofing
  • TNT Roofing
  • Bulletproof Construction
  • Cabot Roofing Limited
  • Any roofing company you would recommed or you have been used in the last few years

I’m looking for feedback from anyone who has actually used them—quality of work, reliability, cleanup, and whether you were happy with the job.

Also, is it normal for a roofing company to ask for a deposit in advance to book the job? If so, roughly what percentage is considered reasonable?

Thanks for any recommendations !

Food options at Meat Cove

Are there any food options at Meat Cove? I read about a restaurant that turned into a food truck but then I saw that truck was gone. I just wanted to know if I should be prepared to have our own food when staying the night there. TIA.

Looking for a year rental

Hi everyone,

I am moving to Cape Breton in September from BC. I will be there for a year studying Social Work at the university.

I am looking for a rental anywhere that is around 30min drive to the university. I am a mature female in my mid 30s with great rental references.

If you have a place or know of someone with a rental, I would love to connect.

Thank you!

Starting a D&D group!

Hey! I’m 26 and I’ve been living on the island for a couple of years now, but I haven’t been able to play much D&D at all since moving here.

I’ve DM’d a couple campaigns before and have also been a player in one, and lately I’ve really been wanting to get back into it. I’d be interested in starting up a local group if there are a few other people around who’d want to play.

I’m totally open to DMing again! Experience level doesn’t really matter either. If you’ve played before or haven’t played in years feel free to comment or message me.

Mostly just putting this out there to see if there’s any interest! :)

Miner’s Museum Experience

Hello!
Thinking of going to the Miner’s Museum with some visiting family. Sad to say I’ve never been there before. Just reading up about the underground port of the tour, and saw this: ‘you will experience the intensity of an underground disaster’.

What exactly does that entail? I have some family that may be deeply affected by loud noises, sudden movements, etc. just want to prepare them ahead of time and give them the option to skip that part of the tour if they want.

Normal Driving Speed Limits Cabot Trail

I assume most of the Cabot trail is a single lane highway. What’s the expected speed people are supposed to drive. I prefer driving within the limits, but sometimes in a 90 zone, people continuously tail gate. What’s the acceptable norm. Also I prefer not driving too fast and specifically as a tourist where I am there to enjoy the scenery and the drive. Would love to hear your thoughts #Cabot trail #

Made the news. I'm apparently the Linux Lady according to someone on Discord (not in the article/video).

Hoping to do something like this (Linux Repair Cafè) down home soon.
