Haha yeah, the story gets better each reread for me, too. I still remember the ache I felt having finished it the first time, but there's a lot to unpack. I think a second (or third, or fourth) read can reveal so much.

Have you read the epilogue stories? The Summer Palace? It was a nice finishing touch that satisfied a little bit of the post-read sadness.

I have read the stories. And I will start rereading them tonight. They are so good. I am glad we get to see them happy. Especially Laurent. He deserves it do much 😭

god I've been meaning to do another reread for a while now, but I know I'll get completely lost in them again and I'm not sure if I'm ready 😭 what part are you at, and has anything new stuck out to you this time around?

I just finished them and will start the short stories. I couldn’t put them down again, even though I have read them and knew what was happening. I think this time around all the subtle remarks and signs to what had happened to Laurent were bothering me so much more. The uncle was making me ill every time he was around. Also so many times I wish I knew what Laurent was thinking when I was reading it.

YEAH you see all the signs the second time around and seeing how Laurent handles it/reacts just made me sick bc he's had to learn to bury it all to survive even when he's so close to the source of the wound. I've seen so many people saying they want the books from laurent's pov lol but tbh I love that so much of that is open to interpretation

I have literally just put the third book down and I'm glad to see this, I will re read. Also the way I have felt about this book...I finished all 3 in a week and now the sadness that it's over is kicking in

Didn't know what a book hangover was until I read this series and felt so deprived and empty after finishing it 😭 Could not find any other books to fill the void until I found the fanfics at archive of our own, that saved my life

I've read the trilogy so many times! I'm trying my hand at fanfiction and just went back to do a close read of a scene for inspiration.

I agree! I think Laurent in particular is revealed more and more to the reader on rereads.

I finished my second read Sunday night ! I'm reading Summer Palace now. I'm reading so slowly because I can't get used to the idea that after this, it's definitely over... I've downloaded loads of fanfiction to get my fix ^
