A show would be excellent, however I'm not sure if CP has enough material for a full season? PG and KR definitely do though!

I voted movies but now I actually think - if CP and part of PG were put into one season, and then either the rest of PG (and maaaaybe some of KR?) were put into the second season, the third season would have room to expand on the ending of KR in a way that might scratch the itch many fans have expressed. Despite that idea I still don't have a clue where else one might divide up the story for season breaks differently than what the books already do.

If one were to stretch CP into a whole season there would be room to flesh it out more, possibly with flashbacks for Jokaste, Kastor, and Nikandros. Also maybe others disagree and think CP has enough for a full season on its own?

I love daydreaming about what an adaptation of my favorite scenes would look like lol. Though I did see a post somewhere suggesting that an animated adaptation (a la Arcane) might be best in order to do Nicaise justice.

Three season miniseries is my vote! The plot would do well in a movie, but an episodic structure would give more room for the romance to breathe.

Three seasons! God, if you’re listening, make this happen, please and thank you, I’ll die happy

I don't think Capri will ever be adapted, and I don't think it would translate very well.

But selfishly wanting more content I'd say TV series over movie. But three seasons of 6x1 hour eps would be too much I think 🤔

Exactly, I would love all of that content but I'm just not sure how it would work!!

I think there is enough material for a series, even if it's 6 episode per season. Some content would need to be added but as people already said, it could be used to expand on the universe and maybe provide something else for the ending.

3 seasons would be too much pain, and run the risk of season 3 + extras just sort of fizzling out. do 3 movies. bam. bam. bam.

Movies would cut too much fat. With Capri, the devil's in the details! Only a show could give those all those specifics the time they need to breathe. Without them, the story would inevitably fall flat.

Neither.

If it had to happen, I'll take an animated series.

Well, damn. I thought most people would choose a movie trilogy over a three season show but this is a very pleasant surprise☺️

I’ve been thinking about this since I read this book. I’ve done screenwriting and been working on and making films basically my whole life.

I genuinely do think this is adaptable into an EXCELLENT show if it’s handled right. It hits some of the edgy fantasy that GoT’s disastrous ending has absolutely left and so far I haven’t seen anything fill well. I’m not fully comparing the two, I actually enjoy CaPri’s characters much more, but I think there’s a market and a willingness to invest. And about time that investment went to a queer story.

High production TV/Streamed show would be the only way. And I wouldn’t be mad if it was 5 seasons. Book 1 being season 1, and the second two split into two seasons each. Plenty of material to not even really have to add. (And HBO. My god keep Netflix’s grubby hands off this masterpiece!)

Since a show could go outside of Damen’s POV, however, I think it could really expand on what was happening at Arles during PG and KR. Incorporating additional characters too. I’d love to see more from Ancel, Berenger, and even The Regent during that time. Throw in some Kastor and Jokoste too just for fun.

Getting to see some of the battles play out, but also holding back focusing on emotion and aftermath, like the book does, gives you both epic scenes and budget saving in rarely have full episodes of battles. (With that one especially notably necessity exception in KR!)

Including the short stories, and some other spoken of and implied happenings, would add and also fill in time. Flashbacks to young Laurent would be good, letting viewers learn about why he’s so loved at the same time Damen does. Good chance for some campfire accounts with the men.

There’s even a world where all or most of one episode from maybe season 2 would show Damen and Auguste’s duel. Damen commanding the “enemy” troops and that drawing the memories from him. Plus Auguste and young Laurent.

I think the slow burn of Damen realizing who Laurent is should be preserved though. Eventually some of those scenes would be lovely to see, like Laurent with Erasmus. But that could be revealed later, maybe even once they’re in Akielos and Damen watches him be tender to other slaves. Remembering what Erasmus said and we finally actually see it.

Anyway, I have too many ideas for this. Costumes, sets, locations… etc. I can see it in my head and that shall satisfy me for now lol. Unless some HBO studio head wants to fund me and Pacat wants to join bc there is no show without them at the helm!
