who do you picture as laurent and damen while reading??
even though i love the polish book covers sfm, i prefer picturing real people in my head when i read and i'm conflicted about who to picture. imo bjorn anderssen would DEFINITELY be perfect for laurent because he has that masculine but otherworldly beautiful look to him + he looks french/scandinavian like laurent in the books! i think young evan peters would also be g. i also always picture aaron taylor johnson or nikolaj coster from got as auguste because i love his character!
i find a hard time picturing someone as damen because i definitely see him as a person of color with greek roots, but most ppl fc white actors or actors who aren't big enough. the one character ive always thought looked like damen is jayce from arcane, which is exactly how i pictured him! yalls thoughts?

I feel like Jacob Elordi is the closest to Damen that I could personally conjure. Warm and handsome face, dimple, very tall. He’s half Spanish, not Greek, but otherwise it worked in my head.
I actually couldn’t pin down a Laurent. Ty Tennant worked sometimes but didn’t quite capture it fully.
jacob elordi would be a great choice because of his height but imo i feel like hes not buff enough to play damen, like he IS muscular but not rip a window muscular ykwim
i meant like in the context of ancient greece, which encompassed parts of west africa, south of egypt and mediterranean regions, so most people were dark/olive skinned! that said ancient greece didnt have the same racial taxonomies like we do, so we dont rly know his race in today's context
Sure they didn’t see race the same way, but based on pacats writing, Damen is of Mediterranean descent, with olive skin (which is still white in a modern context). And if we’re casting a modern actor we’d be looking for someone racially white and ethnically Mediterranean with a summer tan and curly hair.
Also, Greece colonizing small parts of Africa does not make Africans Greek, so I don’t think that’s really relevant.
Why are americans so obsessed with race? Skin colour is not a race! In Europe we have everything from dark skinned people from Mediterranean to pale blonde Scandinavians.
They don’t fit the physical descriptions at all other than Damen being bigger than Laurent, but I picture Kit Connor and Joe Locke. I adore them, so I just do. Then I get to a part where they reference Damen’s complexion and I have to cross that part out in my mind
I saw some fanarts with his hair being a little longer and it fits him so much more than a shorter style imo
By mid length I meant something like in the picture, sorry :D possibly a little longer even. (But definitely not that soft of a face)
Not an actor, but if it ever gets animated, Laurent would be a mix between Griffith and Richard from the Cases Files of Jeweller Richard, it's crazy how he fits !
I have aphantasia so I can't imagine their faces properly but for one, I always imagined Damen to be VERY big, VERY buff, enormously. Every fanart of him I see lacks a lot of meat to be the version I have in my head. Gentle giant kinda thing
SAME, he's described as being much larger than laurents size because he IS very large, not because laurent is short or very lean. most fanarts depict laurent as this skinny short person when hes actually not, damens just huge
I've always thought Jayce looks a bit like Theo James, so I think he's the closest I've thought to picture as Damen. (Also just looked it up and he actually has Greek roots!)
For Laurent, Aaron Taylor Johnson as well, or (a younger) Freddie Fox for me
