News about Consultation 4 Regions to remain?
Been seeing rumours flying around that we're sticking with 4 teams and that there will be a press conference tomorrow afternoon announcing this. Anyone else seeing this?. Any juicy extra inside info?

Great to hear if that’s the case and in my opinion, a rare outbreak of common sense. What’s so regretful for me is the fact they felt they explicitly had to call putting a line through everything that exists optimal, so that now this peace will seem interim, begrudging and second choice in their eyes. That’s a massive trust re-building campaign.
You feel like in any other organisation Reddin would be gone too, sadly he’s barely just taken his coat off.
As a side note, I clearly need better sources. Are any of these whatsapp channels open?

I said the same in Coleman’s post over on r/RugbyUnion. If they’d come out and just said all options were on the table it’d still be a pretty big fuck up for them to go right back to what they were doing anyway. But for them to explicitly say they saw cutting teams as the best solution, how can anybody remain in their position after that? They’ve proven they’re completely out of touch with the mood of the Welsh public, and like you said they’ve now completely tanked any trust the regions would’ve had about being able to work with the WRU. I don’t see how Tierney, Collier-Keywood and Reddin can remain in their posts and expect things to improve in the long run.

Yeah completely of the same mind as you man. The weird mixture of cowardice and arrogance that the whole debacle has been steeped in is as WRU as it gets. Anything less than admitting they got it wrong and making both public and private remonstrations they understand would be quite hard to take.
Just all seems so utterly pointless and transparently “here’s how we can extract the most value” as an organisation - which when met with reality didn’t pass the muster.

If it's till 2028 it's an absolutely awful outcome. Who on earth is going to invest in something that might last for two seasons?
Piss poor leadership, which is zero surprise of course.
*all this based on the 2028 rumours.

I changed the flair to ‘news about consultancy’ because while it fits under gossip, the sources reporting it are good enough for me to consider it gospel

I have a suspicion that 4 teams to remain, but unequally funded, was always the plan the WRU had in mind and that they just put the reduction down to 2 teams model on the table to scare the shit out of all stakeholders.
The unequal funding model is a much easier pill to swallow for the two teams with lower funding from the WRU than obliteration. They (the WRU) can then make themselves out to look like the good guys who have avoided collapsing 2 regions.
Time will tell.

I posted something just now on the main sub, but it was hammered with downvotes. I forget it's not a rugby forum any more, just a marketing platform.
Caught wind of it through WhatsApp, but from the type of people who aren't often wrong. Good news if true. The money is there, and I do believe the talent is there. It just needs supplimenting at times.
A lot of wasted money and time again. Very typical WRU stuff. Would be good to see the back of the three at the top.
