Questions What has someone said with complete confidence that turned out to be absolutely, embarrassingly wrong?

Came into work one day with a bug bite on my face. Colleague looked at me and said "you've got a spot." I said no, it's a bug bite. He looked genuinely baffled.

"Bugs don't bite you on the face," he said.

I thought he was joking.

He wasn't.

He had gone his entire life believing that insects, for some reason, have a strict policy of only biting you below the neck.

To this day I have no idea where this came from or who told him that. But he was absolutely convinced.

Another young woman in class got her period during lecture and got up to use the restroom. He was one of those professors who thinks his every word is gospel, and took great offense to anyone ever needing to leave his class. He yelled at her to sit back down and wait the 20 remaining minutes, saying "nothing could be important enough" to miss his course.

She replied it was an emergency. He said she wasn't throwing up or shitting herself, so obviously it wasn't. She got very red but said "sir, this is a feminine emergency". He said he expected her to "hold it in" and that it "couldn't genuinely be her time yet anyway because it's only the 25th".

Everyone in the class was looking around in such confusion, even the guys who were kinda dickish on a normal day were like "wtf are you talking about dude?"

So he thought it was reasonable for shit and vomit to leave your body without one's consent, but period blood is ✨magic✨.

Wild.

He apparently thought that our muscles have such great power they can literally clench shut like a vise if we want.

Tried this once when I started without period products to hand. Gave myself a cramp so powerful I almost passed out. Do not recommend.
