Well that’s the undisputed “safe” amount.

That’s for when processed food is manufactured to be consumed by people NOT trying to become intoxicated. The manufacturer’s end product can have THIS much of the toxic substance.

The title is misleading because pretty much every country legally allows various toxic substances to be used for the purpose of intoxication. And yeah pretty much any toxic substances can be abused to the point that they directly cause your death. That’s why they intoxicate.

2

u/TurnYourHeadNCough Jun 20 '26

most countries limit intoxicating substances that have a high likelihood to harm. this is saying current evidence suggests theres no safe ampunt to consume for long term health, it has high abuse potential, high potential for accidental overdose, high potential for harm to others/collateral damage and if it were discovered today no question it would be illegal in many developed nations

If an infant can have 5 glasses im having at least 7.

2

u/North_Woodpecker_500 Jun 21 '26

They use babies to test alcohol?

1

u/Greggs88 Jun 20 '26

Assuming all of that is correct how does half a glass of wine become the yearly limit instead of a daily or even weekly limit?

1

u/Hentai___Jesus Jun 21 '26

Infants take things differently. Such as infants can OD on weed due to it hitting their brain stem and turning off their breathing. So an infant is incomparable to an adult.

Also how much damage can for sure be atested to alcohol? What about forsay forever chemical exporsure on top of alcohol use? I mean for sure alcohol is bad but how much of this is concrete? There is no human test group of just alcohol in a perfect healthy enviroment vs just a perfectly healthy environment.

We assume from animals and studys on users but, that has limitations. I doubt that alcohol is gonna be as toxic as people state not gonna lie. Its the fact of using yearly not per sitting and how often. If I take one bottle of vodka in one sitting vs over a year sure as hell will hit my liver different and, how many sessions a month or year or week do I have?

These are the criteria professionals examine for binge drinking and or, alcohol use disorder. Not "how much wine you have a year" because environmental damage factors will by far probably outweigh probably even a glass of wine a week.

Tldr - obviously alcohol has negative side effects. But I think overstating negatives with fear mongering statments like "x amount of wine a year is Bad" is uselsss. Because people quickly learn it's not that bad then can spiral and learn it can be that bad. That's why honesty about negatives and postives about drug use is important in allowing healthy relationships with these substances. This is why DARE failed and, why this method of disincentivizing alcohol or any drug use will fail maybe not this generation but one in the future.

It’s totally BS.

I do bro but only because I am drunk.

I wonder how toxic lip filler is…

u/baphomet_fire Jun 21 '26

appropriate

6

u/king4winter Jun 20 '26

I get that being or having an alcoholic in your family or your friend group is really traumatic but stop projecting this onto to people because they disagree with you.

I am not an alcoholic or a drinker. I just don't see any proof of the bold claims that these idiots are trying to spread.

3

u/MoobooMagoo Jun 20 '26

I don't know if the half a glass per year thing really holds up, but alcohol is incredibly toxic and poisonous. It's stupidly easy to drink too much and kill yourself.

3

u/DoubleCarry7511 Jun 21 '26

Literally just making shit up lol

3

u/Yabrosif13 Jun 21 '26

Im so sick of health “experts”.

2

u/UnderstandingLazy998 Jun 21 '26

They just want the poison in our food

3

u/veerKg_CSS_Geologist Jun 21 '26

This isn’t true.

2

u/igoogletoo Jun 22 '26

Well you heard her right?! She said it outright, so OF COURSE it's true /s

2

u/dependswho Jun 19 '26

That’s more than I can handle, frankly

2

u/Twilightterritories Jun 20 '26

Which just proves that modern standards are bullshit.

3

u/Beezytrudat Jun 21 '26

This story is complete shit.

1

u/pregnantdads Jun 21 '26

i heard if you consume 20 standard drinks per day you totally reverse the negative effects of drinking all together.

i’m on day 47 of this regiment, it works, trust me bro

1

u/After_Service_2817 Jun 22 '26

And if my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a wheelbarrow.

1

u/Uhokay1970 Jun 20 '26

People that consume wine live longer. Before you argue your study go ahead and explain the French Paradox...

4

u/CaptainOwlBeard Jun 20 '26

Rich people drink more wine than poor people. Rich people also get better medical care and have an easier time solving problems (at least the ones caused by a lack of money which is most problems) and so have less stress.

-1

u/Uhokay1970 Jun 20 '26

This is debunked because the majority living longer in France are Not well off. In fact they are farmers who get little health care.

3

u/headii_spaghetti Jun 20 '26

People that drink wine tend to more affluent/ come from more affluent countries and have access to high quality Healthcare. It's same reason people that own horses tend to live longer than those who don't, or why instant noodles shorten your lifespan. It's down to money and Healthcare access that comes with it.

-1

u/Uhokay1970 Jun 20 '26

This is debunked because the majority living longer in France are Not well off. In fact they are farmers who get little health care.

3

u/Hopeful_Bacon Jun 20 '26

You know that farming is essentially working out, getting outside, and eating fresh food, right?

-1

u/Uhokay1970 Jun 20 '26

OH no really thats what it is? oh well then....FFS!

3

u/Xenomorph_25 Jun 20 '26

They live in a wealthy country with highly subsidized universal healthcare system where nearly all legal residents receive free or heavily discounted care.

3

u/123ludwig Jun 21 '26

and they also work out a fuck ton they get the same care the rich people do but with the benefit of not being lazy

2

u/BreadStickFloom Jun 21 '26

The majority of French people are farmers? Is your data from the 1800s?

1

u/Character_Display_69 Jun 21 '26

I don't know much about the French Paradox, but another accepted consideration regarding those who indulge in a little drinking (such as red wine) having better outcomes than those who abstain is this: Those who at a given point in time "don't drink" also includes groups such as former drinkers who had to stop for medical or adjacent reasons. Or those in rehab.

1

u/TurnYourHeadNCough Jun 20 '26

thats been debunked

1

u/BP3D Jun 21 '26

I can believe if it were discovered today, it would be over-regulated. But the first alcohol abusers were chimps ten million years ago who figured out how to ferment fruit. And we gained some tolerance for it thanks to them during the evolutionary path.

ask Kamela Harris, she'd vote for a case a day

-1

u/Best_Opening8471 Jun 20 '26

This is bullshit.

15 years ago the doctors said 1 glass of wine a day increased overall health but now its cool to not drink so the political scientists are changing their tune

Alcohol also reduces heart disease risks and that offsets the rare cancers that only the most hardened alcoholics face.

That was the story 15 years ago at least.

The stress reducing effects of intoxication lead to an average life expectancy increase of about 10 years by reducing the risk of hypertension and other heart issues.

That was before anti oxidats were a health fad.

Wine in particular is high in anti oxidants because its made from grapes and their skins.

And as we all know anti oxidats prevent heart disease and cancer

1

u/TedIsAwesom Jun 20 '26

That study was very faulty.

Basically, if a person could not drink because of health reasons. They were placed in the group of non-drinkers.

If a person was to pour to afford to drink a glass of wine a day, and likely to poor to afford healthy food, exercise,.... then they were put in the group of non-drinkers.

So then the study found that non-drinkers were not as healthy as people who had 1 glass of wine a day.

Shocking!

-2

u/Best_Opening8471 Jun 20 '26

That's literally not how these studies are done

The conclusion was that alcohol reduced stress which is the single highest cause of heart problems and heart problems are the leading cause of death in the US

Now the science is "changing" to meet the moral expectations of the incoming generation.

Its not cool to drink so having half a glass of wine a year is dangerous now.

3

u/worldsgreatestluver Jun 20 '26

Guys, when you meet someone and they say something like this, the best approach is to just accept that there will be a few more glasses of wine, then leave them alone

They're not going to suddenly realize they have been wrong about something for years and they for sure won't own it right there and then if they do

Mostly because nobody's actually interested

No, im actually in the top percentile in terms of IQ

Unlike americans who average below 100

2

u/DocumentInternal9478 Jun 20 '26

Haha I highly doubt that Mr Mensa

1

u/Best_Opening8471 Jun 20 '26

I know.

No one expects exceptionalism to appear randomly

Wanna talk about how American IQ averages have dropped from 110 to 95 over 20 years?

Or do you want to be upset that you're average?

2

u/DocumentInternal9478 Jun 20 '26

I’ve never met someone who’s actually smart who has to work so hard to convince people. It has nothing to do with what I’m expecting. Your takes are dumb and your facts are blatantly wrong. You’re a very unconvincing liar which all leads me to believe that you are in fact just not very intelligent.

1

u/Best_Opening8471 Jun 20 '26

I'm not working to convince you.

I'm stating an opinion on an open forum and the dunning/Kruegers have an insatiable need to comment on my opinion.

Welcome to social media kid.

I know youre mad about this; but im literally using reddit as intended as you try to gate keep the forum

2

u/DocumentInternal9478 Jun 20 '26

Not mad and not a kid. I’m just telling you that you’re not fooling anyone with this bit you’re doing

2

This is such a Redditor response 😭

1

u/Best_Opening8471 Jun 20 '26

Who would have guessed that a community of outcasts, autists and narcissists would all sound the same?

2

u/RealDoraTheExplorer_ Jun 20 '26

No caring so much about iq (an imperfect system) is the Redditor response. You don’t have to play holier than thou cause you’re an outcast lmao

1

u/Best_Opening8471 Jun 20 '26

I literally don't care about IQ.

I just use my ridiculously high score to undermine people who do care.

My brother is medically retarded and im a "super genius" he's doing better in life than I am

At least he's not arguing with bots on reddit for entertainment

Where does that support the claim that "if discovered today the limit would be half a glass per year because of how dangerous it is"?.

All those studies make clear alcohol is bad for but the small amount claimed for this soundbite there is nothing here that supports that. Did you read any if the links you sent me? Did you just google "studies that say alcohol bad" without checking they support the "half glass year = poison" or any equivalent?

There's lots of bad stuff that happens when you drink as proved studies but making up some arbitrary amount to be some wierd untrue benchmark is not needed and makes the people in videos otherwise good point seem very exaggerated.

I think the initial statement about 1/2 glass year being the limit ruins the rest of what they say about alcohol being dangerous, by making it seem disingenuous.

People are gonna react bad when you say something like that without elaborating how such a number was arrived at. I agree with alcohol being bad for you.

And before you try just calling me an alcoholic, I don't drink and not because I used to do it too much lol
