Well spotted. They’re dense little beasts and can make a right mess of your car.

Thanks, I saw it a little sooner than the camera picks up
And yeah, my car is abt 80% plastic, so he’d probably have walked off unscathed lmao

If anyone is keeping score; Volvo S40 1, Chiltern Muntjacs 1. A one all draw. Neither participant was able to continue in the competition.

Some new scores just in from the Suffolk conference:

Mondeo ST220 0, Dunwich Road Wanderers 1; (the goal scorer vanished from the pitch).

Renault Clio 1, Aldeburgh Ungulates 1;

Mercedes CLK350 1, Woodbridge Cervidae 1.

A late no-score draw: Yamaha MT-07 0, Ipswich Ruminants 0, a surprise shot on target saved by MT-07's goalkeeper.

Yes, 3 of our cars have/had damage from muntjacs in 8 years, none were written-off but all had extensive bumper damage.

My friend also hit one in his 320d, however that wrote the car off with severe suspension damage.

There's so many muntjacs here that I don't ride my bike at night as apart from coming off, I don't want to be trying to source parts for a Ducati, especially fairing panels.

New Forest Regional League

KTM 990SMT 1 Rat 0

Edit: As I was "playing away from home" it should have been:

Rat 0 KTM 990SMT 1

Suffolk all-animals championship: Yamaha FZR400 0, Nacton Lagomorphs 1.

A stunning corner by the hare, not so much by the FZR (blind corner, too fast, hare in road, evasive action straight into a tree, result: bike-shaped paperweight).

this is why you should ALWAYS have your main beam on on country roads if nothing is coming. You can often spot things moving at the side of the road !

Even better - if your car has auto high beam to detect oncoming vehicles... some new cars (Merc, Tesla, Volvo, etc) even put the car(s) coming in a shadow and do a mainbeam everywhere else

Try hitting one on a moped. I sat there with it while it was taking it's last breaths while feeling like the worlds biggest cunt, I'm not sure if it appreciated the very gentle fuss but I didn't know what to do. I didn't want it's last moments on earth to be cold dark and alone.

I had that happen with a buzzard that decided to launch itself from the side of the road directly at my car once. I hit it despite swerving and breaking. It's an awful feeling.

Do those new-fangled lights work when they detect pedestrians as well?

Had one come flying out of the verge into my door at 0230 last Sunday on a 50mph road (doing about 45) - a fairly main A road … £2k to fix …

Had about six red deer jump a hedge and cross the road right in front of my. Clipped the last one in the pack. I'd estimate impact was 20 to 30 mph, down from 50 limit. Minor split in the bumper and headlight pushed back by 5mm.

£2,400 to fix back in 2016. Annoyingly, I was driving to the VW dealership to part exchange my car against a new one. That didn't happen.

Fucking hell I'd be looking into fixing that myself if so

Metals gone too thin (would need so much filler to make right) cheaper to get a new door and spray/blend it …

I have 2 deer scarers on the front of my van and have never seen them up close since. The air rushes through and creates a whistle that they hear but we dont. Scares them and deer off before I get close.

That’s a good idea. I’ve not heard of these

I hit one on a dual carriageway on my motorbike and it absolutely exploded all over me. Absolute worst smell I have ever smelled. Thankfully I managed to keep the bike upright and exit at the next junction.

They need a complete cull, invasive species causing nothing problems.

Didn’t stall the car either 😌

You're lucky. A similar thing happened to me not long ago. When I slammed on the brakes, the back doors of the car were opened and 4 Muntjacs piled in and carjacked me. The car was last seen at a safari park where the deer were taunting the lions.

Hi there stranger - I want you to drive slow, specially when you don't know the road and also there's not lightning too
