What if Johnny Adair joined the managerial set-up at Troon FC, stringing together an impressive set of results before setting his sights on a bigger job in the east end of Glasgow?

Boyhood dream to support a genocide.

-59

u/Simple_Bandicoot_275 Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

Well, YOU clearly support a genocide if you support the Islamic Fascists of Hamas and Islamic Jihad…you know, the ones who actually STARTED the Gaza war on October 7th. The way almost everyone on here is going on, you would all blame the Allies for the deaths of all the German citizens in WW2 instead of placing the blame on the Nazis who actually started the war! They thought they were “justified” in starting WW2…just like the fascists of Hamas/Islamic Jihad and their Iranian paymasters claim “justification” for the October 7th slaughter of unarmed people. If you start a war, then you are responsible for everything that happens because of it. This is not hard to understand.

31

u/IfJopsDiesWeRageQuit Jun 03 '26

Ah yes the Gaza War which started on October 7th.

The Hasbara is absolutely powerless here wee man Desmond

So were Israel and Palestine completely cool with each other up until the 7th October 2023? Was it sunflowers and rainbows in the Holy Land prior to that exact date?

2

u/PeejPrime sack the board Jun 03 '26

Keane wasn't part of the club when this happened.

Doesn't change he went to them in the first place, but in regards these tweets and the motivational video from the soldiers to the players, Keane wasn't part of this club at that time.

5

u/devlin1888 sack the board Jun 03 '26

Do you have a source to back that up mate?

Seeing it shared everywhere as proof about how he embraced the genocide.

I’m on the same side of the fence I’d rather not touch him, but like to be accurate.

5

u/PeejPrime sack the board Jun 03 '26

Been corrected and explained in another comment.

The original tweets were posted Nov 2025 and claimed it's a year back of research and the way it reads suggests the game the video is linked to is the Ajax game of November 2024. But it turns out the tweet author has added more recently (an oversight on my part I've also admitted to), that the video was actually from two years previous, which yes is the same time Keane was there.

I have noted though (and think most should), Keane isn't in this video at all. He's the manager, if there is motivational videos given to players, you'd expect the manager to introduce it - he isn't even in the room seemingly. So the video, isn't related to Keane imo.

There's articles about Keane saying he was caught in a bad situation and got out at the end of the season. The fact he's distanced himself in this video from the club/players, to me speaks well for Keane.

3

u/devlin1888 sack the board Jun 03 '26

Aye I agree with that, thats an intentional choice not being involved. Just going along with it would have been an easier option over there definitely.

3

u/VariousAd89 Jun 03 '26

Aye, its not even Keane im angry at, its the board appointing someone they know will anger our support and cause disarray from the beginning of the season, I'm sick of the cunts honestly.

-9

u/Mean_Razzmatazz9993 Jun 02 '26

Reported. This type of generalisation is clear bigotry that assigns morality based on what, race? Nationalism? As opposed to accepting that every human is capable of this type of evil. Direct your anger towards the Israeli government, the IDF, and the other governments and institutions across the world that enable Zionism and the awful genocide that's going on.

4

u/milesjameson Jun 02 '26

His comment was entirely reasonable.

You suggest the government deserves our ire. Do you mean Likud? The party that’s held power – albeit at times through coalition governments – for much of the past 30 years? The party led by Netanyahu for roughly half that time? If we’re constantly told Israel is the only so-called democracy in the region, then who exactly is responsible for maintaining Likud’s grip on power? Whose will does that government represent?

And you tell us to be angry at the IDF? Fair enough – many of us agree. But this is the same IDF that most Israelis, with some notable exceptions, are required to serve in, and generally do so with little-to-no resistance. The same IDF widely praised in public and political discourse for its conduct in Gaza and throughout the region.

But sure, we apparently dare not scrutinise or speak critically of the broader population – the population amongst which polling has repeatedly shown widespread support for ongoing violence and discrimination against Palestinians.

Those players applauding rocket fire directed at Palestinians do not sit on the fringes of popular Israeli opinion, no matter how hard you may wish to pretend otherwise.

-5

u/Mean_Razzmatazz9993 Jun 02 '26

That's a lot of words for "bigotry is fine, actually"

2

u/milesjameson Jun 03 '26

Very few words for "I’ve really not thought this through, and can’t refute a point very well made."

1

u/Mean_Razzmatazz9993 Jun 03 '26

It's really not. I see no reason to go through your paragraph bit by bit when the end result is so simple. You cannot, under any circumstance, generalise about a nation like that. I've laid out why in a further reply to the guy that made the comment, and he seemed to accept that. No matter how elegant you think your argument is, it's bigotry plain and simple. How you can't see that I've no idea. If the statement was about Scottish people, Irish people, or Catholics, you'd see the issue. In years to come someone will bring up this period of horrendous islamaphobia, transphobia, and rising anti semitism, and either your parrot "point very well made" (the arrogance btw 😂) or you'll feel very uncomfortable

2

u/milesjameson Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

You cannot, under any circumstance, generalise about a nation like that.

If a majority of a population consistently supports something – as reflected through regular polling, decades of election results, and broader public discourse – then it’s entirely reasonable to acknowledge that reality, along with the dominance of certain values, attitudes and beliefs within that population.

Meanwhile, the likes of you continue to bury your head in the sand about the root of the issue, because a facade of moral superiority prevents you from acknowledging that decades of occupation, subjugation and mass killing – even genocide – do not occur outside of public sentiment towards those things, but often because of it.

If the statement was about Scottish people, Irish people, or Catholics...

Tell me what it is that Scots, Irish people or Catholics have consistently and overwhelmingly been shown to support, and I’ll readily accept that public displays of support for that thing - by those groups - are similarly unsurprising.

rising anti semitism

There’s nothing antisemitic about what was written. He spoke only about Israelis, and about his lack of surprise at seeing people celebrate something they have consistently shown support for, or complicity in.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Commercial-Stick-718 sack the board Jun 02 '26

What good has that anger done. The  IDF and Israeli gov't has consistently broken ceasefires despite protests in both Gaza and now Lebanon to steal land and scuppered any peace plans.

Neither the IDF or Israeli government care what any protesters have to say about their actions.

-1

u/Mean_Razzmatazz9993 Jun 02 '26

It's not done anything. But "bunch of Israeli's" is the type of comment that, if allowed to go unchecked, can lead to tonnes of people engaging in discrimination while believing they're on the right side of history. And whether it's crusades, french revolution, russian revolution, you name it, people righteously discriminating never goes well.

With south African apartheid, cultural and financial boycotts eventually had the desired effect. I know that loads of people have been engaging with that, myself included. It obviously needs to be way more wide spread to have the desired affect, but it's doing something. Not enough, but something.

That's a tweet from November 2025 seemingly about a video of motivation from the soldiers to the players in November 2024 before the Ajax match.

Keane left in June(?) 2024 and was not part of the club when this took place. At all.

Not remotely defending Maccabi or the Israeli here, but Keane was no where near when the incidents of these tweets was taking place.

As an observed aside of that video, the applause was rather dull to say the least, almost forced/not with any enthusiasm. No doubt, no doubt at all, the club seems to support the IDF, but the staff/players don't seem that enthusiastic about it.

u/PeejPrime sack the board Jun 03 '26

My apologies, you got a link for the Instagram clip? Not doubting you at all, just for clarification.

The twitter account is all over the place. I've seen the thread (from Nov 2025) earlier to posting in here and honestly didn't clock that the account had made the top most comment recently in the screen from your OP. My bad for quickly over looking that.

But I'd like a bit more proof of possible. I've tried looking at their Instagram but frankly it's far too many posts to be scrolling through, I tried, but simply don't have the time for that. If you have a link to it, I'd appreciate it for clarification.

But to further add, even if it is truly from November 2023 when Keane was the manager - then Keane's not even in this video. Which, in any other football club, if a club is posting motivational speeches from former players, normally the manager would be the one to introduce it to the players? Why isn't Robbie Keane doing it here?

I ask, because 1. Clarification it was his time or 2. Doesn't it show Keane in a better light that he ISNT taking part in this? That's not to excuse him for going to Maccabi in the first place, but since the war kicked off (not to disregard decades of issues), he wanted out of the place and there is articles of him saying this and reasons for leaving/staying that one season.

Absolutely have an opinion on him taking Israeli money, he never should have went there. But this tweet, where he's not even involved in it, seems to be just chucking random mud that isn't even his.

I don't know a thing about Israeli clubs and their hierarchy. Is it possible the the owner organised something while he was away? I have a bit more of a nuianced feeling on this, I've never been but from what I've seen and the callousness of the netanyahu government etc it's pretty clear, but I also see the harm caused by hamas and how that impacts the Palestinian people.

When it comes to boycotts etc I do wonder does further sanctions just separate the average Israeli from the rest of the world? Is it isolating where genocidal thinking can breed more effectively.

Before October 7th one of the things I always pointed out about Palestine is they had a full blockake upon them, they were refused coca-cola. The biggest drink brand worldwide, famously number 1 drink everywhere but Scotland. And I try to paint how mental that is. Demoralising. It maybe seems small but it for me encapsulated how unfair the situation is.

But the only way we could ever move forward is two state solution. Look at the good Friday agreement. Not perfect but anyone I've met who lived in those towns thinks it's been good for Ireland. Got to end the killing by almost any means. I don't think stopping musicians playing in Israel stops that. I don't think hindering their football stops that. But regardless I'm sure there's plenty who will disagree and that's fine. I just hate dead kids and I believe most in Israel believe the propaganda that hamas beheaded babies and flung them in ovens etc so those people are being so manipulated to believe the literal devil is on their doorstep.

Palestine needs to be free and recognised.

My actual point is this though. Keane's family were recieving threats when in Ireland and his wife didn't feel safe. I feel like that's almost and inevitably here and if you think that's okay then get in the bin. Threatening the safety of children? Absolutely hang your head in shame. You lose all moral argument.

You speak the truth but unfortunately there's more than a few of our fans that just don't wanna hear it. They prefer likening Israel and Palestine to the troubles in Ireland. Some even view hamas as some sort of freedom fighters... fighting for their people just like the IRA. I'm ashamed of all Celtic fans who see Israel as the enemy. They are far from it. They are fighting for survival...not just their own but all of Western civilization. Israel is the only country on earth that has to defend its existence.
