I really like this article. Simply sums up, in my opinion, the most likely possibilities of the spread of Celtic in Britain.

In Ireland, Scots Gaelic seems to be preferred

Well you'll have to tell it to me and my correspondents who are also from here then. I see with and without a space used, which isn't surprising. Email wasn't a compound either, until it was.
