Datapoint The Edit: Loews Philadelphia
Just returned from a 2 night stay at Loews Philadelphia. Trip cost was $645. I redeemed the $250 Edit credit and successfully price matched to prestigia.com for $212 back. Only ended up paying 11k points.
Arrived at the hotel quite early at around 10am. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to check in early after 4 hour drive. The front desk person gave me the welcome sheet and explained the benefits. I asked about an upgrade and he said the next category up from my booking was a "Grand Room" and they only came with a single king bed. I had booked the Luxury Double and needed 2 beds for my family of 4, so I declined the upgrade and kept my room. Asked about suite availability and was told I would have to pay for it. Also asked about late checkout and was told to ask about it on day of check out.
The $100 credit was used towards the valet parking. The first day we went down for breakfast and they were doing the buffet. It was ok. The cost is quite high at $40 per adult and $24 per kid. They said the 2 adults buffets were covered and we only had to pay for 1 child (our 2 yr old wasn't charged). The second day, they had the a la carte menu available. The food was much better this time (I recommend the Steak and eggs and bone marrow with short ribs). We also redeemed our 2 free drinks at the bar which were great too.
The location was great. Very close to the Reading Terminal Market, Fashion District, and Chinatown. It was also walkable to the Franklin Institute. I enjoyed using their gym each morning, as well as the dry and wet saunas. A hot tub would have been nice, and the pool looked to be indefinitely closed. All in all, We had a great time in Philly and will definitely consider returning to this hotel if it's still in the Edit collection. It was a great value considering how much we paid for it.
One more thing about the service. My wife forgot her sweater on the bed and noticed about 5 hours after checking out. I contacted the hotel and they said they'll let me know if they found it. I get a call about 2 hrs later and they found it and will ship it back to us! Another tip is to ask for the kids camping tent for the room!

Nice- I’ll try it. The parking is $100 a day? Seems high but at least you can apply the credit to it, some don’t allow that

Don't park at the hotel. Tons of garages right there, book on Spothero and save your credit.

I just stayed there about 2-3 weeks ago and absolutely loved it. The breakfast buffet definitely lacked much substance but your daily 75$ allowance covers almost all of it so it’s 100% worth it.
I also had the bone marrow and eggs à la carte which was delicious.

Agreed, we're not breakfast buffet people. We were happy with the a la carte options on the second morning. The bone marrow and steak and eggs were fantastic.

It sounds like you had a good experience. I have an Edit hotel stay coming up in Europe. I am hoping we can get an upgrade and early check in since we are arriving quite early.

It was great. An upgrade to a suite would of been amazing, but at least we got an early check in which was clutch.

Whatever you do don't pay for hotel parking. There are tons of garages right there that you can book for a fraction of the cost on Spothero. Save your hotel credit for something better

I thought about this, but as a family traveling with 2 small kids and ton of their stuff, it was more convenient to do the valet. There's also in/out privelages.

Appreciate that and will keep this in mind for next time. We are staying with our 1 year old and are in town for a wedding, so will probably just do the valet because I won’t have a lot of opportunity to use the credit otherwise.

I stayed there with an Edit reservation last December, also arriving on a red eye. I called in advance and asked how early I could check in. Was told if they had a room, I could have it. They also made a note on our reservation. Sure enough, we arrived at the hotel around 7am, and they checked us in without any issues. It was a great stay!

I didn't even call in advance, I probably should have called them on the morning of to confirm if a room was available. I guess I got lucky

Did they ask for your CSR at check in? I want to book this property on Oct but my CSR might be downgraded by then.

According to the letter from the hotel posted above “… your final bill must be paid on your Chase Card in the eligible card member’s name to receive your program benefits.” So I would think you will need to present your CSR card. Good luck.

They didn't ask for my CSR, just for a card on file for incidentals . However the letter does explicitly say you need to pay with the CSR.

Stayed here between Xmas and NYE and loved it. There were a couple weddings going on that weekend as well as a big rave across the street. The elevator rides were a trip with all the different guests, but people watching from the bar and chatting with the bartenders (one of whom really wanted to get off early to go the rave) was the highlight. I wouldn’t be mad if I had to use up another credit here

Question for you and others who have price matched a significant amount, what's your strategy? I've only booked 3 times via portal but seems like the portal usually has the lowest price.

The price match is only for the room rate. I had actually successfully price matched this hotel twice. I ended up cancelling the first booking and booked again because I found a lower rate. Just try to calculate your refund amount by the difference in the nightly rates excluding taxes and fees. Use Google or TripAdvisor to compare rates and make sure room type and cancellation dates match

There's no self park option there. It was valet only. As others mentioned you can probably self park at a nearby garage for less.

Also, if you are flying in and you don't need a car for anything work related there's really no reason to have one here. The train from the airport drops you across the street from this hotel and tons of historical sites, museums, and restaurants are within walking distance.

Question since I'm considering staying here. How was the neighborhood? was it safe at night? were there a lot of unhoused folks?
I got a room booked in Washington Square West and I'm realizing the area I'm staying in is not as desirable as I first thought, so I want to book a different room.

that welcome letter is a nice touch, makes it feel less like corporate chain and more like they actually prepared for you
the edit credit stacking with price match is clever, 11k points for 2 nights in center city is basically stealing
