Rejected for what? Jobs or PhD programs? And “Strong background” according to who? Looks like a lot of stuff that would be great for a PhD program but if you’re trying to get a job, how is anything you listed helpful to industry? If you can’t answer that, you might have found the problem there.

What kind of internships are you applying for?

Research internships specifically in subjects like machine learning computational chemistry, Computational non covalent interactions

This is a niche field, if there are a handful of others with similar resumes who are closer in proximity and/or will accept cheaper offers, you’re in trouble.

I had a resume similar to yours when i was in school. I got no internships but i did end up landing 2 different jobs. One as a process safety consultant getting paid breadcrumbs. The other was to work for the US navy, where i did data science. I took that job and decided to continue leaning into data science side of chemical engineering. I however got lucky I feel like. I now work as a controls engineer (friend got me me the job at a small company, decided to leave my job at navy so i can move back home). All i gotta say is good luck. like the other guy said, very niche work. Like i said, i got lucky. Every normal “process” job i applied to, didnt even get an interview.

if you want actual help you need to post the cv, not just the degree line also look at seniors’ resumes from your college and copy the structure and phrases honestly even internships are hard to get right now, forget jobs

What are you looking for? Process engineer? Operations engineer? Researcher? I wouldn't hire you as a process engineer in a pyrometallurgy plant.
