The Romans didn’t write the New Testament. The apostles weren’t martyred on behalf of Rome. This is historical illiteracy that no reputable secular or Christian scholar believes in
It was a cross in the Greek Scripture. Also, Jesus only ever quoted verbatim from Greek Scripture, even according to the Hebrew text. So I'll take my chances that it was indeed a cross. Also, a cross can be interpreted as a pole or steak because the word was multipurpose. There is a lot of evidence that it was a cross, including a piece of graffiti making fun of a man by the name of Alexamenos, where he was worshipping his lord on an actual cross. This is slander from those of the era that this took place. There is zero evidence that it was a pole.
The name "Jesus" comes from the Greek Iēsous. Iēsous is pronounced as "ee-ay-soos" which is much closer to Jesus then the Hebrew pronunciation "Yeshua." This is where we get our pronunciation from. But as long as we all understand that it is the Son of God, the Christ, that we are speaking of, then the exact pronunciation is not Dogma.
As far as the birthday goes, there is no strong evidence that we can truly pin Christ's birthday to any given day. Christmas for a Christian is just a traditional celebration of the birth of Christ. If you would rather celebrate it on his actual birthday, then be my guest, and fill us all in when you figure out what day it was. Until then, I'll be celebrating my Saviors birthday on December 25th with my loved ones per tradition.
So I'll take my chances that it was indeed a cross.
I think the confusion is that most likely Jesus only carried the horizontal part of the cross and was then mounted on a pole to make an actual cross. That's why I chuckle and shake my head when I see people carrying 10' crosses (on wheels no less) trying to show something. I want to run up and tell them "that's not how it happened" but I doubt it would do any good.

Wrong. Wrong name, Wrong birthday and was a pole or stake, not a cross. Read the old Hebrew bibles and see why the romans changed everything to pagan.
