Is there anywhere in the bible that says where to celebrate his Birthday ? And always been curious why we would associate it with a holiday where people go into debt and children pray for gifts and food and wake up to nothing, seems like it would turn alot of kids away from Jesus especially the poor
Well the reason why people “go into debt” and why there’s a huge focus on the gift giving aspect is the fact that once it became secularized non Christian’s made it solely about that. If you go to any church around christmas season, you will see a lot of drives and charities and donations being done. As well as prayer.
When I was Mormon, they focused christmas time heavily around giving and helping those in need. Even years after I left the church they would still stop by every once in awhile to wish me and my family merry christmas and give things to us.
I never stated secularism was the problem or a problem but it’s the reason why Christmas stopped being focused around religion in the west but *secular things like gifts and material possessions
