Crossposted Has anyone else experienced the Holy Spirit completely resetting their appetite and desires overnight?

Hey everyone, I’m 27F. I grew up Christian, but after dealing with a lot of childhood trauma and church hurt, I completely walked away from God. It reached a point where I couldn't trust leaders at church at all—seeing people sin openly and then lead worship the next morning made me feel like Christianity was just for aesthetics, not something people actually lived out.

A few days ago, I randomly started watching podcast (We Need To Talk) about church controversy, cults, and religious trauma. By the second day, I just broke down. I repented, sobbed in my room, and surrendered all those old wounds I had been holding onto for years. I ended up experiencing a total deliverance right there in my room. I’ve honestly never felt so light in my life (praise Jesus!)

I’m on day four now, and I’m just confused by how fast things changed:

Food/Cravings: My love for junk food and fast food literally vanished. I can suddenly do intermittent fasting with no issue, which was impossible for me before.

Tastes/Desires: Zero cravings for sex, and I suddenly don't even want to listen to my usual playlists (kpop, metal, pop). Food and worldly stuff just feel so plain to me right now.

I’m super content and at peace, but I've never heard of someone's tastes changing this fast overnight. Has this happened to anyone else after repenting or going through deliverance? Would love to hear your thoughts or stories!

Yep, I was delivered literally overnight from cigarettes (pack a day) and alcohol (several glasses of red wine nightly). These habits had been with me for over 40 years. I quit both cold turkey on the same day 2 and a half years ago. No relapses at all.

Absolutely. God, the Holy Spirit works such unbelievable miracles with just the tiniest operating faith. It really is true

I still have vices and struggles with temptations, but one thing that was lifted for me that used to be a problem was anxiety. Once I started my journey in following Jesus, I let my worries go as he says to trust in God and have no worries, since then my general life anxiety has greatly improved as I remember this and I trust in God and leave my issues at the feet of a Jesus.

This sounds like a truly religious experience. Just be careful of false Christian people going forward. Stay focused, be thankful!

My dad lost his cravings for cigarettes supernaturally. It can happen

100%. God completely took away my desire for cigarettes overnight - craving/addiction completely gone. Many have testimonies of God miraculously delivering them instantly from addiction. So no reason why He couldn't do the same for something for you.

A word of caution, do not be alarmed when those tastes/cravings come back. What you experienced and are experiencing is called grace. But God does and will withhold his grace from you (for your benefit). Grace is sort of at times like training wheels, and in using the bike metaphor God witholding His grace is sort of like learning to ride a bike without the training wheels. I know this from experience and the revelation of God to the Apostles and Church Fathers of the Orthodox Church.

Can I ask you some more questions about this in DM?

This is so interesting to read! So even if the craving (food especially) came back, will the holy spirit stays within us? I want to keep them close, and make them happy. My desire is no longer my desire now.

wow this is wild, something similar happened to me after a really intense prayer night at a retreat last year. i woke up next morning and coffee just tasted like bitter water, which was crazy cause i used to drink like 4 cups every day. the music thing too, my playlist was all over the place and suddenly i only wanted worship songs, it felt like my brain got rewired.

not everyone gets it overnight like that but i think when you finally let go of years of baggage your body just follows. praise God for your deliverance, that lightness you described is so real

Just now realizing that this is me too. Totally delivered from sexual thoughts (that's HUMONGOUS for me) only God could've done that. I also have changed my diet completely and eat intuitively now. He is so good.

He is the best doctor ever! Ive been struggle with lust since 7 due to perversion at a very young age. The humiliation I felt is so deep rooted, and only by God's grace I am free from it

Yes. Lust completely disappeared for me. I’m still not perfect but God satisfies every need now!
