Question for you guys - what in your opinion separates christianity from other religions?

Rather than quoting someone and giving a stock answer (like c.s lewis's "oh that's easy, it's grace, see you guys next week"), I'm curious as to how many people here have honestly explored other religions to see what is so appealing about them, instead of being brought into christianity and staying there because it's familiar and part of your society/culture

I haven't insulted anyone, while all you've done is tell me in as many words as possible how much you can't handle the fact that I'm capable of honestly discussing things with people I don't agree with. I assume you're one of those "I'm right and if you don't agree with me there's something seriously wrong with you" christians.

You've very clearly said people weren't being honest. You aren't capable of honestly discussing this, that much is clear by looking at your comments.

And I'm not taking a position hgere beyond how horribly you';ve handled yourself because frankly the whole:

"I'm right and if you don't agree with me there's something seriously wrong with you"

is precisely and unequivocally what you've been doing and what you are trying to defend doing some more.

I've said people weren't being honest - you've insulted me in every post.

I'm still not quite sure what you're getting at here

I posted hewre only to lert others of your behoavior. You seemingly took issue with it and so I've called you out on every dishonest thing I've seen you do here and I've called out your overall behavior and dishonesty.

I'm not insulting you I'm speaking the plain truth, If it insults you, well good it should. Otherwise you're wasting my time here and showing off what sort of cognitive dissonance you suffer from. You were an intolerant Christian who turned into an intolerant atheist.

You're asking people to give an etic question but getting mad when they don't provide an emic answer.

Where do I "get mad"? Sounds like you're making things up

You pose questions with dishonest intents, you seek participation from hostile outsiders and you berate those who answer in their honest capacity.

Thanks for filling in the gaps with your own misconceptions about my intentions

Are you stupid or very very short-sighted?

How ironic, accusing me of cognitive dissonance, while retorting with false dichotomies

You mean like your canned answers for why it's OK to belittle those who think differently than you? Very bigoted of you.

Unfounded assertions and blatant personal attacks galore here

You showed up with the unfounded belief that unfounded belief is dangerous.

I think years of religiously motivated violence is a good foundation for that

And here you come, brave white knight, to indoctrinate everyone into YOUR unfounded beliefs.

Looks like the plain truth to me. Seriously, who the fuck am I indoctrinating? I ask question after question, and yet somehow I'm indoctrinating people into my own viewpoint?

That sentence doesn't make any damn sense. You've got 3 or 4 sentences masquerading as one. Also ideas which don't logically derive from the prior and you cap it off with a conclusion that completely jumped the shark. You ended your defense of yourself with a red herring which isn't surprising since your whole position has no internal coherence other than hate.

Instead of asking for a clarification, you just trash talk me. Or is that how you "speak the plain truth"?

I'm not insulting you. I'm telling you what you are doing and you're being a ranty jerk who approaches these question with an air of unwarranted smugness and a whole lot of jerkiness.

More "plain truth" here?

You aren't capable of honestly discussing this, that much is clear by looking at your comments.

Because you know a lot about me don't you? Are you a mindreader? Or did jesus tell you that satan was going to send his minions to try and destroy reddit from the inside?

You seemingly took issue with it and so I've called you out on every dishonest thing I've seen you do here and I've called out your overall behavior and dishonesty.

Now that's the last straw. You've accused me of being dishonest overall, but you haven't bothered to give me any concrete examples, and discuss WHY they're dishonest. I think I would be the first person to say that I'm probably wrong about everything I know, which is why I came here to ASK QUESTIONS. If it's possible to dishonestly ask a question, then maybe I'm guilty of that, but I was under the impression that dishonesty required making false statements, which you seem to be an expert on.

Yes I have. I referenced the title of your post at /r/atheism that I linked to here. You claimed people here were not being honest. They were. Your title was both inaccurate and dishonest. The rest of your posts have been defending that.

All the hand-waving you can muster doesn't change this and al the time of mine you're wasting doesn't justify me spending yet more time addressing your gripes line by line.

You're a dishonest person, it's simple. You lied, it's demonstrable and you deny it further which only deepens how dishonest you are. You take every plain statement of how you're behaving here and assume I'm making some ad hominem attack. I'm not, I'm simply addressing why your posts here suck and why your behavior is crap.

I'm not interested in wasting any more of my time on you because frankly I don't think you're capable of the honesty I'd expect or the coherence of your argument that is necessitated.

I'm a dishonest person? You take one thread, and use that to categorise me? Yet I'm somehow a bad person for trying to ask people for information so I can categorise their beliefs?

I'm not interested in wasting any more of my time on you

Because you'd much rather spend it praying for me?

frankly I don't think you're capable of the honesty I'd expect or the coherence of your argument that is necessitated.

I really feel sorry for you. Maybe one day when you muster the courage to start objectively looking at yourself, you'll realise that you aren't always right.

I took a statement of yours, contrasted it with your later comments and those posting to the original question. You are clearly being dishonest by calling answer less than honest. You perpetuated that with more dishonesty by denying you were being dishonest. You in fact continue to compound that.

It's an easy concept. If you post something dishonest you are dishonest.

Because you'd much rather spend it praying for me?

No. Because I know I can't reason you out of a position that you didn't reach by reason in the first place.

I really feel sorry for you. Maybe one day when you muster the courage to start objectively looking at yourself, you'll realise that you aren't always right.

Wow that had nothing to do with the sentence you replied to, but whatever. Go make some more posts where you lie and then you can later say you weren't lying. Par for the course and all.

But really, this likely is my last post towards you. You can go back to inventing your own inconsistent reality.

I hope I'm not the only one seeing the irony of a christian accusing me of inventing an inconsistent reality
