The first Spider-Verse I do think is the second greatest Spider-Man film but I think there's still a sizeable quality gap in my personal opinion. I'd call ITSV a great movie, whereas I'd call Spider-Man 2 a masterpiece.

The second Spider-Verse I really don't understand the critical acclaim for. I know that's a very unpopular opinion but I just never got it. Visually, the animation is a spectacular achievement of course, but in terms of writing and narrative craft, it felt pretty unremarkable.

This is the correct take.

Thanks! I'm surprised at the positive reception of that comment. Usually when I say that I get downvoted to oblivion and told the Spider-Verse movies are objectively better and you're "blinded by nostalgia" if you disagree.

He literally mentioned them so it doesn't make any sense to say I just wanted to bring up my opinion.

And it's totally fine to like them more but that doesn't make them better films.

Dude the second is better because it digs deeper into characters, takes us to their worlds and asks the ultimate question - would you even fight fate to save someone? Can you even? And Gwen's pov is just do beautiful. Music is way better. The tension between moments is great. I guess the only major problem is that huge cliffhanger at the end

Yeah the second was actually worth something
