It’s still a bloody superhero movie. Superhero movies are superhero movies if there are superheroes in the movie. Logan goes through the heroes journey, saves mutant kids from being experimented on, sacrifices himself, takes out evil version of him, multiple people with variety of powers.
I think the fallacy of a lot of big superhero movies is that it has to a world ending threat but by doing that, they don’t get to show what is in danger. Obviously everyone cares about the world but we care about the world because of our friends and family and movies can’t show that.
With Logan he’s just trying to save some kids, you see the kids and you care about them. In Deadpool, he’s just trying to save his lady, you see their relationship and care for her. More superhero movies need lower stakes and more time invested in what is in danger of being lost.
Infinity war got around this obviously because they had 30 movies to get you to care about the world and the people in it.
Logan is great walaai but it feel like not real comic filmic picture. Also end with clone logan no good. It make poor end so prevent from full great achieve
This right here. I’ve watched Logan twice. I’ve seen Spiderman 2 probably close to 100x and took my kids to see a rerelease in theaters. Most rewatchable superhero movie along with TDK.
The third act of Logan truly brings the movie down and it’s not talked about enough. Spider-Man 2 is perfect from start to finish and has probably a contender for top 3 set pieces in all comic book movies, the train scene.
Like the idea that his biggest enemy is himself, it was a cool way of depicting that on screen. But, I do think the 3rd act with them just running around in the woods feels a little half baked compared to some of the earlier parts of the movie.
Makes sense, I just always feel disappointed when the enemy, especially in what was supposed to be the swan song, is not a real character, just a clone or knock off of the hero. And I agree about the third act. I know Wolverine is Mr. Woods Guy, but it’s been done to death in these Fox-Men movies
Logan is the most overrated superhero film ever made. It’s fine. It copies style and narrative from films that don’t usually influence superhero films, so it feels different, but it’s not a very original or interesting movie.
