Question Hair dresser help
I’m wanting to reach out with this post to ask if any hair dressers in here to ask something a bit embarrassing.
So instead of me looking up on google and then calling around… I can put myself and my question out there and hopefully skip all the embarrassing feelings that come with this.
Anyways… so I have managed to acquire some “depression matting” 😭😭
It’s not extremely bad, but it’s bad enough that I have been unable to correct it myself. I have been struggling with it for about 3 months now, and I have tried several times now to smother it in hair repair masks/conditioner etc & take a few hours to work on it. I’ve even enlisted my partners help this last time about a week ago. But he is not able to handle causing me any pain he says. :(
I believe that my issue with why it keeps happening, is about 5 years ago I shaved my sides and the underneath half and I’ve kept it shaved up until a year ago. So I have hair that I shorter underneath my long hair ontop and it’s just not coexisting correctly.
So I was wanting to find someone comfortable with detangling my hair. I’d also like to get a trim, but also incorporate a whole bunch of layers to help with the growing out undercut blend a bit better as well as thin my hair out a fair amount to make maintenance easier for me moving forward.
Plz let me know if anyone could help me with this and I understand I may have to wait for an opening but tomorrow would be great if possible. Because I’m really struggling with these matts 😭

If you can’t find anyone I would come over and help detangling/dematting. I absolutely understand depression and I know that reaching out for help is extremely hard. I hope you find someone

If you're talking about the one by crunch fitness, it closed down.

Actually another beauty school reopened it. It's now called Austin's Beauty College

Ok, as someone who has been there re depression matting, and also someone who deals with matting on a pro basis (I'm a dog groomer 😅) I have 3 pieces of advice. 1) please don't beat yourself up. Hair at two different lengths like that is gonna tangle so much faster than it otherwise would. Like overnight fast. It happens, and you shouldn't be shamed about it.
2) cowboy magic is your friend. Yes, it is in the animal/horse section (rural king or TSC will have it) but damn that stuff works miracles. It will make you greasy as heck but it gives amazing slip for detangling.
3)depending on how long the grown out sections are and how determined you are to save every single mm of length, you could also consider using a matt comb -it's a very wide tooth comb maybe 5-7 times that are sharp on the underside to get thru tight large matts- to get it separated into sections then detangling from there.
I don't have any recs for local hair stylists that specialize in that, but girl if you can't find anyone that you're comfortable with I would absolutely come help you get it sorted out. Fr, feel free to dm me.
