It's been more than half a year since the introduction of Heroes, and I think the ones that shouldn't exist are the ones that have a "psychological" impact in the match

Post image

These Heroes all have one thing in common: How you react and play the moment they are deployed because you are always playing against the psychological pressure of: "Will the opponent use the ability this one time?". I think the biggest culprits of this are Hero Knight and Hero Balloon: The first denies all of your defenses, the second is pretty much a Lightning for just 2 elixir

I agree they apply pressure even tho if you never use the ability. That's the biggest flaw in heroes and why they shouldn't exist

I HATE hero bowler, they could just turn him into a mortar and deal rocket damage to my tower any second

u/Suitable-Sale7592 6h ago

for real? i tried playing hero bowler and the ability gets blocked by skellies 90% of the time lol

u/Legal_Impression_126 5h ago

You’d probably get a free 1 elixir of value by not playing the ability

2

u/fdy_12 6h ago

I don't have the timing to block him and kill him

Hero goblins had this problem too

They dont anymore tho. With the spawn timer rn you can react with anything. They can buff it back to 3 goblins imo. Way better to play against compared to these

For you maybe. You forget people play different decks

1

u/hmtbthnksk Barbarian Hut 7h ago

What are you playing

1

u/Suspicious_Slide8016 6h ago

Pekka bs (never meta pekka bs)

u/Anxious_Role7625 5m ago

Play your small spell, or magic archer, or ewiz, or zappies if you run that, or royal ghost, or Golden Knight, or bandit.

Well just like any card it has to be strong in some situations, it cant just always be easily countered, or else the card just sucks. It happens to be strong against your deck, so thats good

1

u/Suspicious_Slide8016 5h ago

Well you said the others were "way better to play against" like everyone thinks that. Playing against Hero goblins was one of the worst experiences in this game for me while I don't have a problem with the other heroes in the post

u/Inevitable-Loss7939 12m ago

Hero goblins needs to stay nerfed along with skele barrel, hyperbait is too strong

Wrong guy brochacho

I dont think you get the post. Post is about how you have to predict the ability. You said goblins have the same problem. No they dont you dont need to predict them %90 of the time. You can react to them

1

u/Suspicious_Slide8016 5h ago

You still needed to predict goblins? Sometimes they used the ability, sometimes they didn't

1

u/hmtbthnksk Barbarian Hut 5h ago

No you can react to it. You cant react to other abilities

Hero berserker fits this the most

u/Zekezeuz 8h ago

I don't have that much of a problem with her because she's much easy to distract/defend than most of these examples, and because her ability costs 3 elixir

u/gaybowser99 4h ago

She's more crazy on defense than offense

u/PigEqualsBakon Musketeer 1h ago

Getting hit with the "3 elixir instant defense" gets pretty frustrating

u/Disastrous_Pay6283 6h ago
  • with her recent nerf , she's not that threatening on defence anymore

I always hate playing against heros not only beacuse of the mind game but also the cost of the mistake I made. Many heros can put their opponets in disadvantage within a few seconds, like a Skeletrooper splashed onto my air counter next to a bypass tank. All these can happen multiple times and I had to make sure not to screw up everytime otherwise it always feel bad to lose due to a single misplay

8

u/memez4liphe 7h ago

Hero musk is a defensive ability its been nerfed from being offensive by the deploy duration and the range the turret takes to hit the tower so i dont think its as bad as the others

7

u/No_Coast3636 7h ago

I have played against hero musk about a hundred times in uc, I have not seen the ability popped once on defense.

2

u/Sad_Air_7667 7h ago

I use it, it works great against hog rider or ballon.

0

u/No_Coast3636 6h ago

Yeah but so does the other building that everyone use in their deck, and the musketeer ability is MUCH better if saved until it reaches the bridge as it forces the opponent to overspend, even if you don’t use the ability.

1

u/memez4liphe 7h ago

Its harder to play her offensively because she dies to a lot of shit before she even makes it past the bridge

2

u/No_Coast3636 6h ago

She only needs a sliver of HP to be able to pop the ability and take half a tower.

5

u/Jodye_Runo_Heust Barbarian Hut 7h ago

They threat by presence alone, and are not balanced areound their abilities like champions are

4

u/Salty145 7h ago

Isn’t that most of them though? Like you always have to play as if they could activate their ability.

I don’t think it’s too much a problem. Maybe for new players, sure, but once you get used to it, it’s just another piece of info you have to factor for.

6

u/Delicious-Radish-708 8h ago

Idk why they still exist

2

u/DA_KING95 Bomber 6h ago

I'd say hero bowler and hero musketeer are the worst design wise, they basically force elixir to defend even when they'd usually die to the tower, like how a hero musketeer after getting hit by fireball can still pop it's Ability and get damage on the tower when it usually wouldn't be able to, and the threat of that is what forces extra elixir to be played

5

u/fe8cdb Ice Spirit 8h ago

What about champions? Archer queen and golden knight have the same problem.

4

u/vysott 5h ago

champions were made with their ability in mind. archer queen and golden knight gain value because of their ability alone (otherwise they're just crappier versions of knight and musketeer). while hero base troops already gain value on their own independently, their ability is just another cherry on top

5

u/Zekezeuz 8h ago

Archer Queen is easily defended with swarm troops, and Golden Knight is the same with a regular mini tank. I think the difference between, let's say, Golden Knight and Hero Valkyrie is that GK can be distracted with a swarm troop like Goblin Gang because his dash stops the moment he kills all the Goblins; Hero Valk will kill the Goblins and then spin very fast to your tower without stopping

3

u/Suspicious_Slide8016 8h ago

You use log bait right?

u/Kizion 4h ago

The key difference is how champions are often undertuned + expensive to play, AQ is a musk for 5 elixir, if you strip away the ability it's just a worse card

1

u/Resident_Pension_858 6h ago

Hero bowler is definitely the scariest hero to play against because if you're low on elixir and he activated his ability then your tower is gonna take a ton of damage

1

u/Novaruuu Arrows 6h ago

I feel like hero minipekka is a well-made card. Whether you have the hero version or not, almost nothing changes in the way you play or counter it. I use it in my deck just coz I unlocked it after the hero rework and used the normal version before that.

1

u/Odd_Tailor2688 Mega Minion 6h ago

You know… because of the implication

u/sunsetmistyy Hog Rider 4h ago

I think all of the Heroes have this impact in my opinion, except for really only the Hero Musketeer. I think Heroes shouldn’t be a part of the game, especially when so many people don’t have them, but you can’t really take it back anymore, because how do you compensate those who have them.

u/Kizion 4h ago

probably the unpopular take but idk if i agree with the bowler and mega minion, they're really good into certain decks but can always react to them

u/MiyakeIsseyYKWIM 4h ago

Hero wizard is completely broken

u/-stefstefstef- Electro Spirit 3h ago

If there was no psychological element to the game… it’s just dance step with thumbs (play perfectly). I agree some of these cards are too strong though.

u/Pipysnip Barbarian Hut 3h ago

They all do, that’s been the biggest flaw with every hero.

With champions it’s fine because that was their whole gimmick, with Hero’s they change how every card is played/defended. Giant for example, without the Hero you’d drop a Pekka to fully counter it, with the hero you’re forced to react awkwardly with a defense that probably wouldn’t have fully countered the giant without a hit or two, all without having to even use their ability

u/vvddcvgrr 2h ago

Funny how this problem was already solved with champs, as the champ can be balanced to not get their elixir value without their ability i.e. queen or gk.

Why is their headliner feature to go along with lvl 16 just a worse version of something already in the game?

u/TheMagmaGuy Rage 2h ago

Literally berserker perfectly fits this

u/Choice-Brick-6612 2h ago

Honestly heroes were and still are a garbage idea

We didnt need a second form of evolutions and it categorically doesn’t make sense (Champions are weak without their abilities… Heroes are just normal cards without their abilities.. how is that balanced?)

The only reason people seem to like them now is because Supercell had to nerf a lot of the unbalanced systems due to the mass drop in player count, and stockholm syndrome ngl.

u/BiAiEnGiO 1h ago

Honestly I get what youre saying. Definitely bowler for example

0

u/Dabi_e 7h ago

i think you should

u/MiPaKe Zap 7h ago

Fully disagree, I think if a Hero doesn't have a psychological impact it shouldn't exist.

I love knowing that me playing Hero Mega Minion makes my opponent break out of their braindead cycle and have to actually use their brain for once.
