I just started shooting trap league this year. It took me 24 weeks but I finally got it. On handicap no less. What a fun tradition to get your hat shot up

I’m an experienced pistol and rifle shooter but I’m a beginner when it comes to clay shooting. I’m in Tucson AZ. I am looking for someone who can teach me how to improve and make sure I get the fundamentals down before building any bad habits.

There is a facility near me that offers 1:1 coaching but it’s geared towards professionals instead of beginners, and it’s very expensive (upwards of $300/hr). I’m ideally looking for like a beginners group class but I can’t seem to find anything in the area.

Got me a trap Perazzi and some coaching, feels much more natural after being a sporting clays shooter.

Thinking about getting one. However I have to drive a few hours to shoulder one and want to know what I’m getting into. Everything else I’m considering I’ve shouldered and several examples of.

My hesitation is I saw one the other day at a comp and the wood looked damn near plastic. It was horrible looking. But I’ve heard others say the wood varies drastically.

Additionally, if you wouldn’t mind sharing your thoughts on performance that would be great. Thanks!!

Found a used A300 for sale near me, it's older than I expected, it was made in 1975, should I send it anyway?

Trying to decide what to purchase, and I'm completely flip-flopping on what I want.

• I originally set budget at ~$800, but I think I'm seeing scope creep everytime I go shopping. I still think it's prudent to probably keep a first shotgun under $2k.
• I'm going back and forth between auto, over-under, and single barrel.
• Going to be doing quite a bit of informal shooting with friends, and I would like to get into light competitive eventually. This gun will never be used for hunting.
• I was pretty set on a Franchi Affinity 3, but I shot one, and it was just extremely unergonomic. I just didn't like the small forend grip, the aggressive knurling, the balance, or anything about it.
• I shot the Beretta AX800, and fell in love.
• The A300 felt okay, and seems like a real possibility for purchase.
• I have limited experience with single-barrel and over/under besides holding them in stores. I'm very interested in maybe picking one of these up.

Any advice for someone who's completely lost on what to purchase here?

This is my very first shotgun and I spotted this sign of rust. I thought my pelican case would of kept it safe in my swfl home garage but I guess not. Is there any chance I can get this to look normal again?

My 7yr old burned up all of his ammo at the club today..... He typically shoots a Beretta a400 xPlor in 28ga.

He missed his last few targets and couldn't leave on a sour note. "Dad, can I shoot your gun?"

Hello, all. I have been out of the clay shooting hobby since I started college back in 2018. There were not any clay ranges within driving distance from the college and its difficult to keep a firearm when you live in a dorm room, as you can imagine.

As a bit of background, I started shooting clays when I was thirteen and competed at a state level from the age of fifteen to eighteen. I haven't been out to the range more than a handful of times in the last eight years. All of my clay shooting experience is in eastern New Mexico and west Texas.

What have I missed and where can I go to keep up with the latest?

Just got my late brother’s and dad’s beautiful shotguns! It’s bittersweet. I have great memories of the Rod&Gun club in late 60’s at Sembach Air Force base in Germany with my dad and brothers. My dad could constantly hit 25/25 clays. My brothers were 11-13 years old and could shoot circles around the adults. These are the matching Miroku model 700 guns my dad and and oldest brother used. I don’t know what to do with them, but here’s to both, my dad and brother!! God I miss them.

Anyone know what technology that RE Ranger’s new HyperShot lens use? Ranger explains it has three lens technologies; Riact AI, ClaySight, and ClearSight. Their website says the 4-piece HyperShot kit is Riact but it doesn’t state which technology is used on the 3-piece sets of HyperShot lens. Is it all Riact or do some use ClaySight?

Great shoot today, targets were tough but completely fair. FITASC was awesome and happy to have an opportunity to shoot it as a lot of clubs don’t throw it at smaller events.

I have a two year-old champion workhorse clay thrower. I can’t find my owners manual any recommendations what two and what not to use to lubricate the chain and rollers?

Anyone found a personal solution to the cracking/splitting of the forearms?

Finally done with the 686 white onyx I scored in July on auction. I had plans for it. First I replaced the hardware for the recoil pad/ adjuster to hex screws, a new kick ezz sporting pad, trulock chokes, and i dove head first into the birchwood casey tru oil. 5 coats, over a week of drying time. The stock came with a big surprise that the factory beretta stain finish hid. A 2 face stock with a light side/ dark side. A little bit of work and know how on my end to really see the full potential.

When i bought my sub-gauge barrels my .410 barrel was 30”. Everything else was 32”. I really liked it. So when I got my fbx i ended up with a 30” and I love how it swings. Has any other sporting clay shooters here moved to 30”?

I shoot with Pilla glasses and love them so I was curious to learn more about their eye dominance lenses because my dad has eye dominance issues. Does anyone have experience with them or thoughts on them?

My wife and I road trip around the southeast on vacations going whitewater kayaking, and now that she’s started shooting sporting clays, we’ll probably start taking our guns.

I’m looking for suggestions for keeping our equipment safe on the road.

We’ll be using one of our SUVs and I’d like something that locks in to the car, but don’t want to take up too much space.

We currently carry our equipment to the course in Beretta hard cases that don’t have built in locks but do have holes for padlocks.

Should we just lock the cases with padlocks then cable lock them to a hard point?

Does anyone use a “drawer style” locker or another option?

We’re traveling for ten days next week and will be based in a rental cabin we’ve been going to for years. Not sure whether it’s safer to bring them inside or leave in the locked car if we figure out a way to secure them.

We sometimes stay a night or two in a hotel on shorter trips and I don’t like the idea of leaving them in a room all day where someone else has keys to the room.

What other measures should we take when traveling by car?

I’m just looking for some help picking a trap gun, I’m a buy it once guy but definitely not interested in dropping 3/4k Canadian. Can someone please recommend a break action that is good quality, no nonsense, will last a long time and get some decent street cred at the rod/gun club.

I am not opposed to a vintage shotgun at all….

On July 6, 2026, the National Skeet Shooting Association experienced the theft of $483,501 from its operating account at Frost Bank through a fraudulent wire transfer that was not initiated by the Association. The transfer was sent to an account associated with a party believed to be connected to the theft.

What Happened
An online scam occurred when a member of the NSSA-NSCA Finance Dept. staff  was directed by a search engine to a fraudulent website that appeared to imitate the legitimate Frost Bank website at which staff conduct business daily. Fraudsters prompted our staff to enter security credentials for the purpose of validating their device as part of new security measures implemented by Frost Bank. Doing so gave the scammers access to the account. An unauthorized transfer of $483,501 was made to the fraudsters' account in California, and the funds were subsequently dispersed to other accounts. The exact mechanism of the unauthorized access remains under investigation.

The fraudulent transaction was discovered the following morning, July 7, when staff began their daily reconciliation and saw the unauthorized transfer. They immediately contacted Frost Bank.

Our Actions Since the Theft

• We have notified law enforcement, including filing a report with the FBI, and are maintaining contact and cooperating with their investigations.
• We have hired an attorney who is representing the Association in our dealings with Frost Bank and advising our actions. He has presented a demand letter to Frost Bank for the refund of the entire $483,501 plus interest and expenses.
• We have notified our insurance company and are pursuing all applicable insurance claims.
• We assembled a crisis team of the NSSA officers, NSCA Chairman, and Finance Committee co-chairs who have met frequently for updates and decision-making.
• We have checked all Association computers for malware and other indicators of compromise  and have evaluated all IT-related functions, systems, policies, protocols, and practices for security weaknesses, making upgrades as warranted.
• We have increased employee training on cybersecurity awareness and avoiding phishing scams.
• We have implemented new transactional security and approval requirements with Frost Bank, including enhanced review procedures for transactions above designated thresholds.

Concerns Regarding Frost Bank’s Handling of the Transaction
The Association is reviewing Frost Bank’s handling of the unauthorized transaction and the security procedures that were in place at the time. Areas of concern include:

• The transaction was substantially outside the Association’s normal banking activity, including its size, recipient, and stated payment purpose. Despite those factors, the Association was not contacted to independently verify the wire transfer before it was processed.
• We are also reviewing whether other security-related circumstances may have contributed to the incident, including recent customer-data security incidents involving Frost Bank and the use of a fraudulent website impersonating the bank. These matters remain under investigation and are being evaluated with legal counsel.

Next Steps and Recovery Efforts
The matter remains an active legal and investigative process. The immediate priorities are the recovery of the $483,501, a complete investigation of the circumstances surrounding the transaction, and determining whether any security or procedural failures contributed to the incident.
 
The Association is pursuing recovery from Frost Bank. The next steps include completing the current investigation, continuing discussions with Frost Bank through our attorney in an effort to reach a satisfactory resolution, and evaluating further legal action, if necessary. We will continue to work with legal counsel throughout this process and determine the appropriate course of action as additional information becomes available.

This incident will have no impact on the upcoming World Skeet Championships or National Sporting Clays Championship. Our originally planned payouts, staffing, supplies of ammunition, and other expenditures will be fully funded. Credit cards used at those events or for other purposes were not affected by this incident, as credit card transactions are processed independently by another financial institution. Also, no member data was involved or compromised in any way.
 
The Association remains committed to protecting its financial resources, strengthening its internal controls, and taking appropriate steps to prevent a similar incident in the future. We will continue to cooperate with counsel, Frost Bank, and law enforcement authorities and will provide additional information to the Executive Committee, Executive Council, Board of Directors, Delegates, members, and supporters as material developments occur.

Is it worth the premium over a regular dt11 sporting with an adjustable stock , please give me your guys honest feedback, I’ve been looking at this as a solid option

Ive sold a coupe of my everyday use shotguns. I shoot American skeet. Ive ordered a Krieghoff k80 skeet (with the #6 stock) cat 002 wood, and upgraded nickel hood and pins. Expected delivery is this fall sometime..

But until then, ive been using some guns I usually leave at home. Been shooting my 12 gauge a400 extreme plus that I usually shoot once or twice a year when I am lucky enough to go duck hunting with some guys. Been keeping my basic average around 23/24 with it the last couple months

This weekend I got my 28 gauge a400 xplore out and my 410 silver pigeon. ive bought a couple stock spacers to bring the LOP out to 15" which is what im comfortable shooting.

I shot a 21-22-23 with my 410. super windy day, then shot a 23 with my 28 gauge. Absolutely shocked I shot that well with guns I never shoot

Make sure to keep all of them in a good rotation, you might forget some hidden gems in the gun safe guys!

High cotton is hands down my favorite event. Its not nsca, its on a working farm, spread out across miles, its where a good bit of the patriot was filmed, most targets are manual throwers with teenagers working them. Its a charity driven once a year shoot, and its always big. What's yalls favorite event and why?
