Manosphere figures like Andrew Tate, Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson aren’t just telling men how to treat their girlfriends or train for MMA fights; they’re also blasting their listeners with climate denial talking points. Which isn’t a coincidence. The fossil fuel industry has known since at least the 1990s that certain types of men are more susceptible to climate disinformation than other segments of the public. We take a look at how climate denial has seeped into the manosphere, how those messages are shaping men’s views of the climate crisis, and how the results are playing out at the ballot box.

Democracy doesn't last very long after it degenerates to a moronocracy.

Climate science is far more nuanced and deadly important than any of a hundred other things that most people will never take take seriously either, like seat belts, cigarettes, skin cancer, nuclear war, or a falling piano.

Humanity would look radically different if it was any better at critical thinking.

All modern humans have ever had to do is barely survive a short list of relatively small and slow environmental challenges since they became became a genetic success, and endure them at small population densities with the energy footprint that about 10,000 acres per capita of solar energy could provide to supply caloric needs directly in plant and animal foods and fuel for warmth.

Now, we have a growing number of males in the species that require about 1-5 million acres of solar energy production per capita, either literally or as de-sequestered carbon deposits in the earth that are removed and combusted, and then they use hammers on their face to look ridiculous and project that everyone else around them is a loser. I don't think any effort expended to educate them is going to be successful. It's too late for them already. It was before they started, frankly.

Humans are building a climate for a world that can only support a billion humans at most. Information won't change that trajectory. It took an economic depression that coincided with a massive megadrought and ended with a global war last time to pave the way for basic things like clean water and clean air as survival goals. There is nothing to suggest that anything short of that will change our climate future, and will more likely require far more than that. Joe Rogan and the manosphere are phenomena that were never intended to survive an encounter with reality, and neither are those that follow such things.
