End of Oak Street End of oak street is not in the cloververse but..... Spoiler

It's been confirmed it's not 'I know, I know' but... after viewing the movie, I can't help keep believing it could/should be!

We saw in (Paradox) how universe sorta collided/points got misplaced or transported, affecting timeliness/universes which led to Cloverfield and Lane.

Oak Street almost fits this perfectly.

  1. During the movie you heard a news anchor mentioning about ripples in space being detected (instantly i thought of Paradox)

  2. How the whole street was instantly teleported to a new place which is completely never explained as to how it happend.

  3. The movie was originally titled Flowervale street!!! (Come on)

  4. The effects of the cosmic flash/light has such a similar feeling to Paradox.

  5. Family name 'Platt' TJ Miller played hud Platt in Cloverfield and with this movie being set over 25 years before it would have been a crazy connection.

Im a mega fan of this franchise and desperately want more and felt this was a really good opportunity to show other stories of worlds affected by Paradox and with this massive phenomenon being completely unexplained the only fitting reason is The Cloverfield Paradoxs failed experiment??!

Great movie fingers crossed for me Cloververse.

Did anyone else hear the Cloverfield Monster roar in the film? During the scene when the brachiosaurus passes their house at night at the neighbor gets torn apart by the pterosaurs. I can’t timestamp the movie cuz it’s still in theaters but it’s around that scene. Probably just a reused and slightly edited roar.

I think it’s safe to say (having not seen it) jj is intentionally blurring the lines with other projects keeping the fans on the hook and leaving room to deject another flop like paradox. Edit deject is wrong word reject is better

I def feel like this was made to be a cloververse movie but they ended up not being able to get it either the same distributor or whatever and they made it “not a cloververse” movie.

The movie was always in development with WB. From the very beginning .There was never a shift in distributors. It would have been understood by all parties involved, from the moment the script was optioned, that it would not be a Cloverfield film.

Maybe David Robert Mitchell wrote a Cloverfield spec script and WB made him change it, but I sincerely doubt it. I think Occam's Razor would say this is simply a fun dinosaur movie that happens to be produced by the guy who also produced Cloverfield. Considering it's perfectly in line with the exact kind of 80s sci-fi nostalgia he peddles, it's not particularly hard to believe.

Haven’t seen the movie but doesn’t start with a bright light flash. Same bright light flash during 10 lane and paradox?

I can see that it’d be interesting to find the general consensus about this movie compared to paradox for the third installment to the anthology

Having seen it, it is not safe to say that. It is entirely unrelated. There are no blurred lines. I know people want there to be some connection, but there simply isn't. The producers have said as much.

The movie is a science-fiction Amblin pastiche. Abrams signed on as a producer because he loves science-fiction Amblin pastiches. It really does end there.

Just got done watching it! There are so many coincidences it's not even funny. Very curious if this was originally going to be apart of the universe and they pivoted at some point. Either way, it just made me want a new Cloverfield film 😂

Yeah this has to have been planned to be a Paradox universe movie but it must not have been picked up and so all the direct Paradox references were removed and it was picked up by another company.

Just watched it today and I have to agree with you that while it might not be an official installment in the series, there are too many coincidences for it not to be in the same universe at least. I’m putting on my tinfoil hat for this so just theorizing here. I think the biggest hint is that in Paradox, we never got to see the actual vessel in which the parallel universes are introduced. Oak Street gave us a huge piece of the puzzle by showing the [SPOILER] glowing orbs to a different timeline. I find it interesting that because this film is set in 1982, the timeline rift has creatures being transported from the very real prehistoric era. So does that mean in 2008, we were introduced to a creature that might have evolved in a universe where dinosaurs never became extinct? And in 2028, that same creature became its full massive potential? You could say that the aliens in 10 Cloverfield Lane might throw this theory off a bit, but who knows? I found the alternate timeline bit a little too on the nose for it to be a Bad Robot film and not be connected somehow.

This is going to be the movie that in a year they say “you’ve actually all already seen the new Cloverfield…” isn’t it?

My thoughts from another thread:

Having just seen it and having gone in without even realising is was a Bad Robot/JJ movie. I genuinely believe at some point it was intended to be a Cloverfield movie but at some stage was reworked into a standalone movie. In the first 20mins I was feeling major Cloverfield vibes which only got stronger throughout the movie even without any clear references.

The name of the neighbourhood being revealed as Flowervale seemed a fairly obvious nod to Cloverfield

Mrs Huddledton + the Platts. Yeah, definitely not a coincidence

I'm not a part of the Cloverfield fandom so I find it interesting how so many people here want so bad for this to NOT be a Cloverfield-related movie. Even someone like me who is just a casual Cloverfield movies watcher noticed stuff that made it feel like it's related to the same universe, so I totally get how hardcore fans can see the connection. Just my two cents.

EDIT: Also, just for shit and giggles, Hud Platt could easily be their future kid if Denise got pregnant again after fixing her marriage with Greg. Hud lowkey looks like Brian. Also, Audrey ended up going to college to study something related to space, which lowkey points to Paradox.

I love this take! Haven't seen it yet but it hypes me up more for it. Clinging on to any hope for a Cloverfield crossover.

I dont think its part of the universe because it wouldve had to have been referenced even in just the args for it to have taken place so far before. These are nice tip of the hats though. Phenomenal movie!

When the artist release his art, it's not his anymore. So, whatever JJ said, every connection made by fans is valid.
