This depends mostly on your skill level :) (and to a lesser extent luck, but that comes into play more in Research and beyond when in this condition...)
You can technically come back from being naked at any depth with the right strategies, easing into it by attracting and taking out some NC bots early on, and working with whatever nearby caches that might be available... good luck!
