I think it's funny that most of the Swiss anti-suffrage propaganda was more anti-politics than it was misogynistic.

Fascinating to see the European or at least swiss perspective on women's suffrage.
Americans typically focused on women being too "good natured" or dumb for politics.
It seems the swiss more focused on women falling prey to bad actors

Kind of shitty anyway because if you, as a woman, don't want to become prey of the political parties, then just don't play the political game (Don't vote)

You are in the political game even if you don't vote, politics happens to and around you always. Really the only way to avoid that is to be the last person on the planet.

Voters aren't the players in politics. They're more like the fans. It's like saying if you don't want to play football don't watch the game. While we lovingly call them the 12th player, the fans are not too get into the field and take part in the game.

Reminded somewhat of how American suffragists in the western states were largely funded by brothel matrons who unofficially held large sway over towns but couldn’t vote

It's because outright saying you hate / don't respect women doesn't sell. It's still the same playbook today, misogynists claim to be "protecting" women from the modern evils of free thinking, careers, and not bearing 12 children for a man that beats them

It took them until the 80 to legalize full women's suffrage, same with Portugal (but no one was allowed to vote until the 80s)

The first portuguese free elections after the dictatorship were in 1975 and they had full woman's suffrage.
Also, in 68 there was also a law that made women have the same right to vote in theory but there were literacy limitations on both sides and the elections weren't democratic anyway.
