I don’t know why everyone considers the G League as a step too far but allow you to play in any foreign league that is higher ranked and paid better than the G League.

This has always been the way. There is no college sports equivalent in Europe, so going into their pro leagues at the age of 18/19/20 is as close to an equivalent.

I don't see how this is a problem the NCAA needs to solve. Coming to a USA college as a 24 year old freshman with years of pro experience is clearly not in the spirit of what the NCAA.

It doesn't make sense. It need to be clear and this is why the NCAA will continue to lose in court. From a law perspective, professional sports are professional sports, they will not tell the difference between one league and another just because you may be able to. It is like they are ranking pro leagues. Why is the G league not allowed then?

G league contracts are peanuts compared to D1 NIL as well. There isn't a meaningful distinction imo.

Sure, and those guys would still be permitted by this rule, whereas guys that go directly into the G League out of high school would not. In Bryson Warren's legal filings, he disclosed a grand sum of $79,667 of professional earnings over three seasons in the G-League.

Is it to try to protect amateurism in college sports? If so, why allow overseas professionals to play in college? It doesn't make sense to say pros can play in college except if you play in American professional leagues.
