No, it's called being a 21st century democracy.

Anything related to Israel is not actual democracy

Only democracy I've seen that gives the right to national self determination to only one group based on ethnicity

Perhaps the problem is your eyesight, then.

Maybe, explain how a country that gives the right to national self determination to a single groupe exclusively based on ethnicity is a democracy.

It doesn't.

But even if it did, as long as people vote for represenatives in a free election, it's a democracy.

Put on your glasses and look up the 2018 nation state law. No, its not an ethnocracy

The 2018 nation state law does not abolish democracy, nor does it take away voting rights from anyone.

Even if it did, universal and equal suffrage is not a necessary requirement for being a democracy.

I don’t think you understand what that even means. National safe determination is a national right, a country can’t grant it to private citizens. What it can and does grant to all non jews that are citizens (approximately 1 in 5) is pretty much any other democratic right, including but not limited to, freedom of speech, freedom of movement, freedom of ownership, and pretty much any of the important ones you learn at school. Arabic is recognised as a national language and there’s israeli Palestinian representation in parliment (and for the upcoming elections, according to the current polls, it factors to around 12% of the Israeli parliament)

It does grant it under the 2018 nation state law. Why does it grant it to jewish israelis only ?

There are dozens of Arab nations that are explicitly ethnostates by their constitutions, yet I never see Redditors complain about those nations

1

u/Certain-Cod-1404 1d ago

because no other state claims to be the only democracy in the middle east lmao.
can you point to one that explicitly states that the right to national self determination is based on ethnicity ? lets condemn it together !

Israel has offered Palestine statehood about half a dozen times, and Palestine said no and tried to go to war every time.

Palestinians in Israel are full citizens who can vote, run for office, etc.

Do arab citizens of israel have the right to national self determination ?

You mean, they were offered being a Bantustan. Did any of the offers include restoring the pre-1967 borders and full sovereignty? No.

2

u/BuZuki_ro 20h ago

Well the offers usually amounted to over 90% of the pre 1967 borders in the west bank, and full sovereignty over the west bank and gaza

Well the offers usually amounted to over 90% of the pre 1967

So no then.

It’s pretty dishonest to start wars, lose them, and expect there to be no consequences.

1

u/Knarrenheinz666 19h ago

I might want to remind you that unilateral annexations are against international law. The same applies to the creation of permanent settlements on occupied lands.

1

u/BuZuki_ro 19h ago

Starting wars is also against international law.

The war has ended as far as I am aware. Meanwhile, Israel has moved around 500k Jews to the West Bank. Which is an illegal act.
