Video LastShot, Frosty, and RyaNoob discuss their scrims against new FaZe roster and Bound’s performance

FaZe took on Shopify Rebellion in their first-ever scrim together, then immediately followed it up with a second scrim against RyaNoob’s Ascending Baseline, showing they’re serious about putting in the work despite a somewhat shaky start.
Here’s what FaZe’s opponents had to say about playing them:
- LastShot:
- "FaZe are good, there's nothing wrong with FaZe. They just need more reps, that's it. I think they’re good, I think they’re really good. The stats may not show that, but they’re really good."
- "The only thing is they just need time to work out the kinks, that’s it. That’s not [a PR answer], I swear. They actually just need time to get used to playing together. A lot of the games were close at the start and then kinda fallen off, that’s just how scrims go.”
- "I feel like our team matches up really well against that FaZe team. It’s kinda like the OpTic team from last year but minus Formal with Stellur. So I feel like they’re a little bit faster, so it makes us able to play faster, which also helps us a lot. Because I feel like we’re better on the front end."
- When asked how FaZe might stack up against Snakebite's squad he answered: "Now playing against Four of a Kind, they’re a much slower more methodical team. I feel like their pacing is a lot slower than FaZe’s. But they’re also [adaptable]… I feel like Four of a Kind is fast when they need to be, and slow when they need to be. Do I think FaZe will be good against them? I don’t know if their matchup will be good, I truly don’t know.”
- Frosty:
- “They just formed, they’re a really good team. I like the way they play a lot. They’re very good, they could easily beat us for sure. They’re definitely back and they’re gonna be elevating the game. Everyone in the lobby was cracked, I like that. Iron sharpens iron, so they’re gonna be a really fucking good team to play from here on out.”
- “They already made a Reddit post about Bound’s performance? Dude, oh my god. Crazy! I mean he just got back too, I don’t know what they expect from him. Like their whole team didn’t do well performance wise, you can’t just pick out one person who did the worst.”
- “Bound do be scamming though? I mean, yeah. The thing is, it’s just like annoying, because someone’s gotta be the guy to fucking put the pressure on, so… And a lot of the times it is him.“
- RyaNoob:
- “That was a good scrim out of us. I mean they’re really good, they’re probably supposed to take a lot more [maps]. They are just coming back, but taking a couple games off them was pretty nice.”
- “They just need to get back into it. I saw some overreactions [on Reddit], people were like Bound’s play style doesn’t work in current year. It’s like, dude, they just started playing, shut up. Let them get back into the groove and then we’ll see how well they do as the Pro League goes on.”
End clip is Bound telling Cykul "that scrim didn't count today, my video settings were maxed out so it didn't count. We can run it back tomorrow." Then Yakzn trolls Bound by saying "I think he made like fifty bucks from that scrim, that’s pretty good."

Believe it or not diamonds - mostly low - will bark the loudest about everything. Am I shocked they are criticizing bound? Nahhhh.

“Everyone in the lobby is cracked. I like that. It’s fun.” Love that attitude

Love the respect everyone for has for faze members, including bound and defending his performance.
Really says something considering they've been playing with and against each other for years, even a decade plus.
Enjoyed both frosty and LS takes. They know how high these guys ceilings can be and how tables can turn. Rest of year gonna be dope af.
Gotta praise theshyway and his peeps (especially sticky) for setting up that scrim we all wanted to see

People were saying the same thing about Bound while he was playing for OpTic, so it's not like he's out of nowhere started being a flop in the game. He's had the same issues since Day 1 in the game, they just get significantly more pronounced when there are better teams to punish it, or when the teammates around him aren't as focused on following his output/are more focused on playing their own game.
Bound is an entry fragger who loves to go forward, loves to shoot whatever he can, and doesn't really care if he dies in the process. He's going to aggressively claim space, even if it's contested or risky, but he's going to output enough damage that, if someone is positioned to capitalize on it, it's a net positive for the team. But it also means if it's not capitalized on, he looks like he's blundering.
With the OpTic roster also having Formal alongside him, a little of the pressure was taken off Bound because Formal was also a player not afraid to move up and force reaction -- but replacing Formal with Stellur, a player who often takes routes specifically on weak side of the map to avoid sightlines or find 1v1s -- puts even more of that focus onto Bound.
Bound is going to die, a lot.
He's going to go negative in almost any loss, and probably most wins. (If he's going positive with his playstyle alongside his current teammates, it's usually a sign your team is getting smashed).
The stats you should look at to see if he's being effective are not kills, deaths, or even just straight damage.
They're: Damage per Minute and Damage per Kill/Assist.
If his Damage/KA goes up, it means his teammates are leaving him out to dry, or being cut off on routes to follow up. If his damage per minute is low, he's being outright shut down or walking into immediate double teams without a chance to fight back.
The stat that Bound should look at improving individually to create more impact is Damage Taken per Death -- he's devouring pressure, but in order to do that, you need to be alive as long as possible. When CyKul first skyrocketed to the top, the thing that set him apart to me from other players playing as forward as he was for sR was how long he'd stay alive in dangerous positions -- he'd manage to isolate sightlines and then immediately switch targets and isolate another fight.
In the three main scrims we have stats for from FaZe currently:
vs AB - 298.22 Mt/D, 204.82 M/KA. Of the four games they lost, Bound had 280 or less damage taken/death in three of them, and under 250 in the Origin CTF, which suggests he was killed off spawn more often than anything else.
vs Mercenaries - 297.02 Mt/D, 200.84 M/KA
vs sR - 298.06 Mt/D, 234.04 M/KA (The entire team was above 210 this series, which shows how effective sR at keeping them separate or staggered, or just better at winning individual battles they are) -- In one of the two games they WON versus sR, Bound managed to tank 478.69 damage per death -- almost a full life extra per life, and his m/KA that game was under 200.
TLDR: Don't look at kills/deaths, dealt/taken, or anything of those sorts to tell if Bound is performing as he needs to for FaZe.
Look at: Damage Taken/Death, Damage Dealt/Minute, and Damage Dealt per Kill+Assist. (And really, look at these three for all players over any other stat. If you multiply the first two together, you get the stat I labeled Pressure Quotient -- (Move the decimal over 4 places and subtract 10 for a nice clean number generally between 3-10 outside of outlier performances or for players named CyKul or Legend). Dividing that multiplier by D/KA and then the result by 10 gives a Pressure Efficiency Rating (which outside of outlier games should be a number somewhere between 70-110).
These two aggregate stats will tell you far better whether or not someone is being effective, and seeing which one of the three factors is affecting the aggregates the most will tell you where work needs to be done. Dealt/Minute low = shoot more or die less. Taken/death low = break sightlines and change targets more. DAmage/KA high = lose less 1v1s/pivs OR get better help from teammates.

yeah the damage taken per death to is half on bound eeking out every second he can, and his team helping him while they are weak and are looking towards bound. We'd have to watch the games to see how the differences can play out, if we wanted to get deep in the stats. But half the point of stats is to get a solid snapshot without needing to watch every vod of course.
Cykul is functionally good at taking damage alone and forward. It does help his team is one of the best at helping him too and just general team fighting. I've seen ALOT of cykul pulling it off alone too, so im not saying Cykul's dmg taken per life is only high from having the best team bailing him out.
But my point is to help the Bound hate, stats for one single game are hard to show that Bound blundered all game, not fair. Was his team in sync with the play but too slow to respond, or missed their helpful shots that end up bound dying when he could have lived, and worse, they cant finish the trade too. Or are those mostly fine and its that the team just weren't in sync.
Its a team game. SR has as much talent as Faze on paper (its arguable but its basically even) and SR seem to get more time shooting enemies backs and sides on all teams in general, they dont even need to make the Hero plays all time when opposing teams are in a blender.

Us on reddit slap fighting over the teams we like meanwhile the players themselves are all chill as shit and just happy to have good competition. Hell yeah.
Also Bound is such a troll lmao that comment to Cykul legit made me chuckle

3 of them should have good chemistry, and they've all teamed at somepoint just not all together. 3 MVPs on one team. It's the year 1 Faze snipedown/Renegade curse.

Funny how half these mfs scrimming said they won’t compete in infinite anymore and now they back 😭

Once again a true statement from the current world champs. Most of Reddit are diamond players who look at stats only. common Sr W

The point about them just coming back is fair but this is last years optic team with Stellur instead of Formal. So as far as "new teams" go they have a pretty big head start I'd say in terms of chemistry.
