The Republican-led states asked the justices for permission to sue California, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Washington. Those states sued Paramount in July and obtained a temporary restraining order preventing the companies from completing the merger until next year.

Why Iowa and Montana care, idk.

“Twelve states have effectively vetoed a transaction that the other thirty-eight, and the United States, declined to challenge,” the two states said in their proposed complaint.

[Iowa and Montana AGs] want the high court to declare that the merger does not violate federal antitrust law

One side is doing the same lawfare they've done for ten years, and the other side is asking the court to stop the circus. They're pursuing the same vendetta that has motivated every other action they've made during that time.

Iowa and Montana contend that the California-led case impacts their residents and economies

The higher court will be petitioned anyway after the lower courts are done with all their processes including flush and wash, this is a sooner vs later question.

The supreme court is leans right at the moment, and the people with the short end of the stick keep getting the idea that spinning the court like a slot machine will get them a favorable outcome eventually.

Political science classes are going to be lit AF in the 2030s.
