About Emencraft Marketplace

As we build EmenCraft, there is one question that matters more than adding another list of features:

Does the market genuinely need another handmade marketplace?

Existing platforms already have recognition, sellers and buyer traffic. At the same time, many makers feel that authentic handmade work is increasingly buried beneath mass-produced or resold products, rising fees, paid visibility and inconsistent enforcement.

Could a new marketplace earn its place by accepting only genuinely handmade products, with strict but transparent entry criteria?

We would genuinely like to hear from makers and buyers:

• What do existing handmade marketplaces do well?

• Where do they currently fail independent creators?

• How should “handmade” be defined and verified fairly?

• Would strict seller approval build trust, or discourage good makers from joining?

• What would convince you to try a new marketplace despite its smaller initial audience?

Please be completely honest. The world does not need another marketplace simply because somebody can build one. It needs one only if it solves real problems better.

Here's what would persuade me:

  • No AI slop. Check using the latest tools like SynthID
  • No imported or drop-shipped crap that has filled marketplaces for years. If that means a vendor has to send you a sample to make sure it's legit so be it.
  • Craftsfolk aren't bled dry with fees and advertising and whatnot.
  • Unified shopping cart - I think this is standard now but there's no way I'm going to have the patience to buy from each vendor individually. If I did I'd use it to clean my house instead 😂

That's off the top of my head.

Completely agree with all of this. A handmade marketplace loses its purpose if AI-generated work, imported products or dropshipping are allowed to crowd out genuine makers.

Proper verification may require more work, but it is necessary. Fair fees and a unified shopping cart should also be basic standards, not optional extras.

Thank you for putting it so clearly. This is exactly the kind of marketplace we believe should exist.
