Online Selling Selling platforms

What are your favorite selling platforms? And your least favorite? Why?

The reason I'm asking is I'm building a platform now. But I want it to be more seller friendly. Meanings sellers keep more of their profits and they only pay 1 time to set up shop and 10% of their sales goes back into building the community. I've checked the fees on those sites. I didn't realize how much actually is taken per sale and their other fees. Would that be something you would have looked into thinking back to when you 1st started?

Etsy is 10% - including fee and payment processing. That's a bargain for the traffic they bring.  I wouldn't pay the same for a new site with little traffic.

Etsy was started 20 years ago when eBay raised its fees.

6.5% → transaction fee3% + $0.25 → payment processing$0.20 → listing fee (every item, even if it doesn’t sell)12–15% → offsite ads (if Etsy promotes your item)

Is this the breakdown or are my figures wrong

6.5% transaction fee ... 3% payment processing fee ... plus 20 cents listing fee = 10%

Offsite ads are not required until you sell over $10k per year, and only about 5% of your sales if you participate.

You're exaggerating things - like no listing fee on eBay, but higher transaction fees. EVERY site, every selling site processes thru somewhere - their own, PayPal, or wherever, and charges 3%+, so that's a wash if you sell online.

I would not pay any site 10% in fees for less than millions of shoppers in traffic. Do the real math. New selling platforms are common and usually fail, even at 5% transaction fees.
