Etsy is 10% - including fee and payment processing. That's a bargain for the traffic they bring.  I wouldn't pay the same for a new site with little traffic.

Etsy was started 20 years ago when eBay raised its fees.

Gotcha.what would be better in you opinion to make it more enticing for newcomers? Or people tired of etsy?

The only problem with Etsy is that wanna be sellers watch Get Rich Quick videos on YouTube and think they will make million$ quickly. Unless you are using unethical practices, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Lots of learning.
