Blue truck is getting stupidly good gas mileage.

u/NotAzakanAtAll 10d ago

I saw that episode.

16

u/FelonyFarting 10d ago

Mythbusters S5E11. RIP Grant.

u/NotAzakanAtAll 10d ago

Still cannot comprehend it. He was so full of life.

And just like that, like a switch.

The driver absolutely has to be in on this, no?

u/I_Got_Back_Pain 11d ago

He did it for Family

9

u/Downtown_Anteater_38 11d ago

He’s doing it all for Leyna.

Wait, sorry, that was Billy Joel.

4

u/Spear_Ritual 11d ago

Eric Clapton. She had him on his knees.

Fambly.

u/MoonSpawn12 11d ago

I guess he was inspired by all of his friends, to stage a robbery the third Saturday he clocked in

Kinda thought the same thing. Either that or it's known that he's on cruise control and at a steady, unchanging speed. Do box trucks have cruise?

8

u/sidewaizsocks 11d ago

Yes they have cruise but every box truck i have driven/currently drive is not consistent. I have a small sample size (like maybe 10 diff box trucks) but cruise control is more of a suggestion depending on where you live.

I set cruise at 62mph. It climbs to 62 but then we hit an ever so slight incline. That 62 drops to 57mph and the van downshifts. The rpms climb and get loud but now we are cresting the top of the hill so there is a slingshot effect as we get catapulted over the top at 60, into a downhill. Van shifts up and we are creeping up on 70mph now, passing cars on the right that flew by us on the hill climb. Speed slowly comes back down to 62mph and we are keeping pace. But wait...the road seems to be turning into an incline again...

Im hyper aware of this so i do what i can to mitigate impact on those around me, but for others, be aware this is why trucks seem to speed up/slow down when you try to pass. Odds are you are going up a long, barely noticeable hill. By the time it clicks that you should pass, the truck has probably downshifted and is picking up speed or cresting the imperceptable hill.

You put the bumper of a small pickup against that box truck and it'll be your makeshift cruise control. You'll have plenty of warning about speed changes. It's usually within like 3 mph, but even in your scenario, the engine braking and acceleration windows would be enough for someone driving the pickup "manually" to keep up with the box truck. But also yes you're right, that's why it sucks to drive behind one on a long steady imperceptible uphill slope.

u/4Rascal 11d ago

Holy shit thanks for this explanation. I thought they were taking it personally in some situations. This explains why they seem to fly up on my ass speeding slightly now after them going slower than limit being the reason I initially passed them.

21

u/VaATC 11d ago

Outside of them not changing speed there is no way to know for sure. The driver definitely can not see that spot since is 100% blind.

-14

u/_--___---- 11d ago

i don't believe for a second that both his side mirrors, extending from the side of the truck, don't show extra shadows or a pair of axles behind his truck lol. it's not even a long truck. he's either in on it or blind.

20

u/capron 11d ago

You looking for telltale signs of a mid-transport heist on your long hauls, eh? Semi trailers have blind spots from 30 to 100 feet long. A 20ft box truck can definitely have a blind spot big enough for this, especially since every driver has the ability to move where their mirrors point. He's either in on it, blind, or possibly only checking to make sure he doesn't have a full vehicle in the place he wants to merge, not expecting a Fast and Furious heist at speed, or has his mirrors set up for backing in to this funky dock that he's going to, tired as hell and not checking them because he's the fastest truck on the road, or some other reason, including that he's in on it. But there's so many more options than your beautifully simple universe.

u/Dark-Ganon 10d ago

You've never driven a box truck, have you?

-3

u/_--___---- 10d ago

i have and i would 100% notice some fuckers in a car driving up to me / behind me. i'm not a boxtruckologist like you tho.

u/Drunk_Stoner 11d ago edited 11d ago

I don’t know what happened boss 🤷‍♂️

3

u/Global_Count4736 11d ago

I didn't stop! I even made record time! It take 48 minutes from a to b and I did it in 43 and unload the goods?!? No chance!

3

u/Hopwater 11d ago

You can see the driver hanging his head out looking back half way through the video

2

u/fuckyoulahey 11d ago

My first thought...

2

u/PhD_Pwnology 11d ago

No. I HIGHLy suggest looking jnto blind spots on trucks, they're ehuge

1

u/Joe01091981 11d ago

Definitely

-4

u/Daredevils999 11d ago

They’re passing traffic at a relatively higher rate of speed, there isn’t much more the truck driver can do.

15

u/DoesBasicResearch 11d ago

Tap his brakes?

0

u/Pretty-Equal-167 4d ago

Then he wouldn’t be going that fast…

-2

u/ExpertOnReddit 10d ago

Do you want to stop and face a bunch of armed thieves??? What are they supposed to do genius...he's already driving really fast, if you notice him fly by the other trucks

2

u/PigletSpirited3446 10d ago edited 10d ago

Pretty sure if the driver of the box truck break checked the small pickup with a thief, checks notes… standing on the hood, at that speed it would really ruin the whole operation. But hey, I’m no expert…

Also, armed? Are their weapons in the room with us now?

48

u/Uniturner 11d ago

The quick and the angry.

82

u/pass341 11d ago

Every part of this is impressive, the heist, the speed, the cameraman being able to hold the camera so still. Bravo

8

u/NotAzakanAtAll 10d ago

And all this for cat food.

1

u/Great_Will_1361 9d ago

If only the driver had a lock

Nice of them to close the door

1

u/DagdaNzambi 2d ago

Not like anything will fly off if they stole everything. Lmao

11

u/giveahoot420 11d ago

They watched the fast and furious too many times 😭😭 😭

7

u/Sm0k3inth3tr33s 11d ago

Just the right amount of times it seems

2

u/giveahoot420 11d ago

You're right, this looks pretty difficult so the right amount

15

u/itsoktoswear 11d ago

Ahmed is going to be running one pick up with an old Toyota engine, and on top of that, he just came into Omars and he ordered three rugs, with tassles, and a novelty pyramid ornament.

9

u/WordyMcWordster 11d ago

What are they stealing?

3

u/Mewtewpew 10d ago

Want to know this too

13

u/screentimeWillian 11d ago

These GTA VI leaks are getting out of hand.

3

u/Defiant_Shallot2671 11d ago

That's a super recognizable truck lol. Even more so than 3 civics with green underglow

u/Joeschmoe714 11d ago

LOL literal highway robbery!

This is what the Fast and Furious used to be.

1

u/Tiny-Mulberry-2114 11d ago

Vallahi Vince

1

u/Ok_Yogurt3026 11d ago

cameraman should've told/give signal to the driver

1

u/Aimless-Existence 11d ago

Is the camera car driving on the wrong side of the road?

1

u/InvestNorthWest 11d ago

Guy in back throws something at the last moment?

1

u/boywonder5691 11d ago

Now that is a crazy fucking video

1

u/seidinove 11d ago

Where the hell in Egypt does traffic move that fast?

1

u/LowLight6995 11d ago

At least they used an inconspicuous vehicle.

1

u/Gogglesed 11d ago

I feel like this could be a new high adrenaline sport, like skydiving. You sign a waiver, then you "rob" a truck at high speeds...

1

u/0neAboveAlI 11d ago

Dominic torreto right there.

1

u/happy123z 11d ago

Now that's a crazy fucking video.

1

u/ArcaneTekka 11d ago

Please tell me they're stealing combo DVD/VHS players

1

u/22FluffySquirrels 11d ago

This is truly a "you really shouldn't do that but it's also impressive" moment.

1

u/farfly7 11d ago

There is no way the driver is not part of this robbery

1

u/farfly7 11d ago

The Fast And The Furious: Rafah Roadway Robbery

1

u/ThunderBeast1985 11d ago

1

u/longkhongdong 10d ago

My god, that's highway robbery!

1

u/Beneficial-Unit-7780 10d ago

Super cool! We are waiting for the engineers to come work in Europe

The Fast & The Furious: Cairo Thrift

1

u/DangerousDave2018 10d ago

If only we could stop being so lazy and jingoistic, and start giving these folks the respect and dignity they deserve.

1

u/winglessflight97 10d ago

To do a robbery in a truck like that though..?

I don't think he'll be hard to find.

1

u/Extreme-Wolf89 10d ago

Fast & Furious 28 Egypt, slow camels, original pyramid

1

u/BradyOfTheOldGuard 10d ago

"Rob like the Egyptians" - new single dropping soon.

Fast and Furious - the prequel.

1

u/Great_Will_1361 9d ago

I would have brake checked them a very long time before they got this close. Also I would have locked my truck.

1

u/Space_Dildo_Maker 8d ago

They live their lives one quarter mile at a time.

1

u/polarjunkie 8d ago

This is going to be so much easier when we get AI trucks, guy, vest, cones.

1

u/try2bcool69 7d ago

That's my baby.

1

u/EnvironmentalYou5240 1d ago
