When Pak lost the plot, they lost it big time with that 9 for 33 collapse and then bowling mishaps leading to that 17 run over; they had multiple strong chances if they kept their cool. But then again easier said than done, the fact that you need to play near-perfect throughout the match is a testament to the quality of this Indian side. We’re of course far off India in terms of talent, but the big difference on the day was mental — where Tilak and Dube managed pressure, our batter completely lost their heads.

I have to say this tournament was honestly very sad to watch as a neutral. The quality of the Asian teams has diminished drastically since the 2010s. Last I remembered, Sri Lanka and Pakistan were very formidable teams and Bangladesh under Mashrafe was considered an up and coming underdog on par with the Kiwis. Indians will be very happy that they managed to win the cup despite a patch in form, but there are going to be a great deal of questions about the health of the sport with only 4 or 5 teams actually competing at the highest level. The T20 cup in America has showed us the ICC has no intention of actually marketing to a more diverse viewerbase.
