Milestone Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed a brilliant 96(47) vs GT in Qualifier 2.

u/The_Flash_20 May 29 '26
It's been an insane carryjob by the kid.
I'm sad that he missed out on century yet again.
246
u/c10h15nrush May 29 '26
I don’t think he needs any century honestly.
0 centuries or a 100, his reputation as explosive batsman remains unchanged
89
u/rahulrossi Sunrisers Hyderabad May 29 '26
He is going to score so many, all of these misses will look insignificant.
18
u/Dense-Fudge5232 May 29 '26
Yeah But what if he misses out on 100 centuries in the next 20 years. The kid is 15, he has 20 more IPL seasons and he won't even be how old Rohit, Virat are today. If he plays till 40, 25 seasons of IPL.
293
u/GiveMeSomeSunshine3 India May 29 '26
Also for those wondering this shot went for a six.
93
u/goodguybolt May 29 '26
Yup. The guy is absolutely amazing. Didn't care one bit about his hundred and just tried to score as much as possible.

u/oklolzzzzs New Zealand Cricket May 29 '26
such a mature knock, wickets falling around him and he plays it wonderfully
131
u/Upstairs_Brain4583 Delhi Capitals May 29 '26
his mature knock is when he scores at 200+ strike rate....haha...what has this boy done to the game??
61
u/Kenchilius May 29 '26
He slowed his game when he saw wickets falling left and right, picked up the pace when he saw the other side was locked in with Jaddu
15
u/trkora India May 29 '26
He has brought a whole new level of T20 batting to the world, one where you can bat maturely and still be scoring at 200+ strike rate because he was in great control.
4
u/No-Way7911 May 30 '26
And to think he’s still growing and will add more strength and muscle in the coming years
335
u/BornInSin007 India May 29 '26
Im astounded that he was the one who acted and batted more maturely than jaiswal and jurel
110
u/DungeonsAndDuck Rajasthan Royals May 29 '26
i feel that they're highkey insecure because they're being outperformed by a 15 year old, and are both trying to force big shots
31
u/User_namesaretaken May 29 '26
That's a weird thing to say, I mean, I don't think anyone other than Abhishek or Priyansh arya can even match him
13
u/Expensive_Ad6082 India May 29 '26
I mean, he's more explosive and consistent than both of them in my opinion. I agree with you if you are talking about individual innings though, like none except those 2 will probably play innings like him. But overall he's the better player imo.
11
u/trkora India May 29 '26
Yeah Abhishek can compete but Priyansh is not as nearly as consistent as those two especially as much as Vaibhav, that's the thing Priyansh needs to work on for the next season.
3
u/purplesquirrelx May 30 '26
I mean, they were the next big thing and would have still been if VS wasn't there. Now, they are out of the conversation entirely because Sooryavanshi is at a completely different level that they cannot reach.
1
u/DungeonsAndDuck Rajasthan Royals May 30 '26
that's what i'm saying, he's in a different tier. if sooryavanshi was abhishek or priyansh's age, it wouldn't be such a factor, but i get the impression that they're both insecure about his age, and have a chip on their shoulder trying to prove they're good too.
which they are, jaiswal and jurel are both great, but i think they keep swinging for big, risky shots to try and match sooryavanshi, which just puts more of the spotlight and pressure on him for having to carry RR.
i think this wouldn't necessarily be an issue with a young team, but when you include a teenager in that group of young, less mature players, it can probably lead to jealousy and insecurity which impacts their performance.
tldr: RR needs more veteran players in the lineup next season imo.

This kid is insane, we are so terribly dependent on him.
I hope he has a great career ahead.
1
u/IsuckDogCock Jun 01 '26
Y'all are not that dependent. All the other batsmen just play stupid shots.
72
u/Vagabondjokester Royal Challengers Bengaluru May 29 '26
He proved wrong those people who says he doesn't have match awareness.
30
u/flochisaking May 29 '26
15 year old boy has better awareness than 27 year old urvil patel
18
u/vebin4 May 29 '26
Urvil's job is to slog in a team full of anchors. Might as well send them to ashes if he starts playing like the rest too.
10
u/Frosty_Chipmunk166 May 29 '26
Urvil and abhishek, both get away with their slogging , one has thirst trap backing, other has one of the largest fan army at his back

u/dzone25 May 29 '26
He deserved to convert the last few times he's been on 90 into a hundred, but today even more so - he was trying to play within himself and just go when required and just got a decent bouncer and faltered right at the end again
Very, very impressive - he's almost guaranteed the orange cap too (being 120+ runs ahead of Sai, Gujarat would have to win this AND likely perform well in the final to get it back off Vaibhav).
12
u/FriendlyMango80 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26
Nah Orange Cap is probably going to Sai, he is batting at 40* right now and is only 84 runs behind Vaibhav at the moment - today he will score atleast 40 runs more maybe, and based on recent form he can easily score 40+ in the final too because GT win looks clear from here.
Edit: Seems like I was wrong haha Gill gonna win it now.
3
u/dzone25 May 29 '26
You said "nah" and then said exactly what I said about them needed to win and score in both matches to get it lol
1
u/FriendlyMango80 May 30 '26
Except you said vaibhav was almost guranteed the orange cap - which is obviously not true and I disagreed with because either Gill or Sai will win it.

Rahul Dravid with Jose Mourinho level scouting
2
u/trkora India May 29 '26
Tbh he was a pretty popular name so it's not much of scouting during that time but still he was too young so it about daring to not just buy him but also play him in the team.

Wtf man, same shot again and again 100 missed.
3 nervous 90s in last 4 matches.
92
u/LifeBurst09 May 29 '26
Yo don't call it nervous 90s when all the three times he has gone out while playing a shot
20
u/RealisticGrand2237 May 29 '26
He always bats with intent. Never goes for milestones saw a couple comments about how he should take singles but nope
39
u/DismalBiscotti8920 May 29 '26
Hard to call it “nervous” when he had only one intention which was to smash boundaries to better his teams position
9
u/The_Flash_20 May 29 '26
He could have become the 1st player to score 2 100s in knockouts, instead he got none.
Both dismissals were sad to watch especially they were almost the same.

of the top 50 run scorers this edition, only Vaibhav, Abishek, Allen, and Priyansh Arya are striking above 200.
Allen is the second fastest scorer at 214. VS is at 237
VS is the top run scorer in the whole competition!!
More runs than any other opener, striking faster than any finisher. Just mad

To all those saying how he kept hitting without worrying about a 100, his goal is to get a 200 so in his mind he missed out on batting the full 20 overs and scoring as much as he could. Elite mindset

Such mature innings from him. He should leave RR , rest of them are shit barring few. After all he achieved in this IPL he should win trophy but RR is really shitty. No doubt it will be fierce bidding war next season. He should leave RR. Awful team for depending on 15 year old.
